* Creator/CarlBarks' "Dangerous Disguise" is probably the only Disney comic book story to ever show a character taking his own life - when a [[SpyFiction foreign spy]] fails his mission and realizes that his totalitarian leader will now send him to salt mines, he chooses to finish himself by jumping out of window.
** ... except for an infamous series of WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse comic strips (the idea for which was suggested by Walt himself!) in which Mickey attempts suicide several times after being dumped by Minnie (only to have each attempt comedically foiled). These strips are among ''Website/{{Cracked}}'''s [[http://www.cracked.com/article_20236_6-insane-disney-comics-you-wont-believe-are-real.html 6 Insane Disney Comics You Won't Believe Are Real]]

* Susan Smith of ''ComicStrip/FunkyWinkerbean'' attempted suicide when she realized that the teacher she had a crush on loved someone else. She's probably contemplating it again. Also had another character commit suicide when he realized he wouldn't make valedictorian. What is it with Batuik wanting smart people to kill themselves?
* In one early series of strips, ComicStrip/{{Garfield}} actually tried to do himself in by sticking his head in the oven because Jon was going to have him declawed. (Fortunately for him, it was an electric stove.)
* In [[http://www.gocomics.com/peanuts/2015/03/24 this]] ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}'' strip (of all places), Linus tries to catch pneumonia on purpose when he's convinced Ms. Othmar doesn't like him anymore. Lucky for him, he really doesn't like having to get wet to do so.
