* Also in "...In Love and War", Carol giving back the Star Sapphire ring. Not only does the Violet Light of Love tend to drive its users a little crazy, not only is a Lantern Power Ring one of the most formidable and versatile weapons in the universe, but Carol ''could'' stand beside Hal as an equal, join his fight, be with him aboard the ''Interceptor''. And she turns all that down because she realizes the cost isn't worth it. She'd rather just be herself, and take whatever comes with that. Even the Sapphires are astonished, stating that no one has ever turned down a Ring.

** Atrocitus is pretty thoroughly thrashing Carol through most of the fight, until she remembers the Star Sapphire's special power: to bring people who love each other together, literally. While the Sapphires argue later that the true power of love is for people to lay down their lives for the people they love, Carol's fight posits that love's real power is in bringing people together, forming a whole greater than the sum of its parts. She summons Hal to her aid, and when they go full BattleCouple, Atrocitus eats dirt (and, as mentioned, a gigantic boulder).
