Insanity Prelude: Ah, the good old Pacific Northwest. When I was visiting a college up there before we decided where I was going, it started raining (as it tends to do in Bellingham) and I turned to Dad and told him "You can tell who's not from around here. They're the ones with umbrellas." Yeah, I gave up on umbrellas after breaking my third one as a kid living up there. XD
Meta Four: "somehow when people talk about the Rainforest, they always mean the tropical one in Brazil." Because the ones in Africa and Asia don't count or something.
Scorus: Hey guys, just to clarify my edit (shortly to follow this), this kind of forest is called a Temperate Rainforest, and the specific one intended by the trope is the Pacific Temperate Rainforest. Interestingly, it is the largest and the world and can have many times the biomass of tropical versions. Most of it is located in British Columbia along the coast and all over Vancouver Island, if I recall properly.
