Caswin: This page originally focused on a villain simply telling a team of action heroes that they can't win and should give up, to which they respond by blowing him away, which I thought (even for a generic example) was a drastic oversimplification. It's a little incomplete, but in my humble opinion, I believe this is a better direction for it. However, though they're incompatible with my "Bob and Dave" page, these showed a good deal of effort and I thought they merited keeping:

  • Deconstructed: Emperor Forsite's points are completely and perfectly valid and show the situation is much more complicated than the Tropeton Force would like to believe. Their refusal to even consider that he has a valid point makes them come across as little more than brutes who think that might makes right and are thus Designated Heroes at best, more concered about beating people up to prove how powerful they are than actually doing good. In the aftermath of the battle, the Tropeton Force find that there are an almost endless number of problems that cannot simply be solved by dropping a Nuke on someone and the are driven past the Despair Event Horizon by the realization that Emperor Forsite was right all along.
  • Reconstructed: The Tropeton Force recognizes that he has a point; however, he's still a Complete Monster, so they take him out anyway. They then work to improve their lives based on what he pointed out in his Hannibal Lecture, acknowledging that it was good advice from a bad source.
