Neophos: I removed

  • The most famous version is from a Capcom fighting game which featured Dio as a playable character.

And replaced it with the current version since, contrary to popular belief, Dio actually just laughs instead of doing his signature battle cry in the game.

Whenever I see Mohammad Abdul's name on the trope sight, it's spelled Avdol. Why? When given the choice between the romanization of the name, Abdul should be the obvious choice. I mean, his name is Mohammad and he was born in Egypt. Abdul is a name often given to men named Mohammad who are born in Egypt, whereas Avdol is not a name at all. Since this was before Araki got really crazy with the naming, I can't see why Avdol is the named we use. Can anyone explain it?

  • Because it's publically known that Araki named him after Paula Abdul, so even though it's a perfectly valid name, the official translators are paranoid about being sued.
