Nlpnt: I'm more familiar with vinyl as fake leather, and having owned several cars nearing the ends of their lives I've observed that old worn-out vinyl upholstery does stiffen, crack and generally dry out with age (after 10-12 years in the singularly inhospitable temperature extremes of a car interior)
