Of course, when you delve into Epileptic Trees, you'll get all kinds of crazy "explanations" — starting from "Neo did exactly what the Architect wanted" and "Zion is also a simulation" to "Neo was a program brainwashed into collaboration with the Rebels". However, the existence of a Vicious Cycle in the Matrix universe is hardly deniable, as it has been firmly established that the Machines (and hence the Architect) cannot lie.
