Solandra: What about when the character undergoes a makeover but discovers that the guy she did the makeover to catch the eye of has in fact been in love with her all along, even before the makeover? I'm thinking of Ellen Conford's Seven Days To A Brand-New You, in which Maddy follows an advice book on how to get what she wants in life (i.e. Adam who's practically a Greek God in her eyes), but at the end discovers that Adam's actually liked her ever since the start of the school year and before she had made herself over. That's right; the makeover was completely unnecessary after all, though it did give her the self-confidence necessary to talk to him.

It really doesn't go here, as it isn't a Subjective Trope and actually happens in the plot itself. Yet it goes perfectly with the trope title... <frustrated>

It could be a subversion, depending on what the audience thinks.

Grev: ...that's Just the Way You Are, which is now linked in the page.
