Arivne: In the Berserk Button entry, I changed Reverse Funny Aneurysm to its standard name Hilarious in Hindsight because one troper confused it with "Funny Aneurysm" Moment (where a later traumatic event makes a funny situation cringeworthy), and deleted the resulting Natter. The original text on the main page was:
- Berserk Button:
- Lance - "I am not a SISSY!"
- Reverse Funny Aneurysm - Neil Patrick Harris, playing Lance, later came out as gay.
- Question: Why is that a reverse funny aneurysm? That implies that: 1. being gay is bad, and 2. the writers didn't already know Harris was gay. Just so you know, it wasn't a secret in Hollywood.
- A character saying they're not a gay, and it later turns out the actor is gay? That's just plain old irony. Why would it be saying something bad about gays?
- And just keep in mind: Reverse Funny Aneurysm means it gets even FUNNIER. It was funny the first time, then finding out that the actor portraying the anti-Sissy character is gay... adds in that nice element of irony to elevate the gag.
- Lance - "I am not a SISSY!"
