Working Title: Too Kinky to Torture: From YKTTW

Vampire Buddha does the natter removal thing.

  • Most examples of this trope are way, way too comical to become actual Fetish Fuel. Not this one. Take it from me. Yahoo Group and everything.
  • Actually, it's not that unreliable a killing method, as there are two dead women amidst piles of clothes in the scene. Still, the most hilarious thing is she seems genuinely sorry she broke it. All this, while still remaining so "nauseatingly innocent" that the Mathmos will not eat her, and in fact has to protect itself from her!

  • This writer does not see it quite that way. Phèdre always finds some pleasure in pain. Torture isn't any less painful for her, but she endures it better than a normal person would. Near the end of the first novel, she withstands incredible pain without breaking. (As for the floggings she receives as a child, she seems to be actively seeking them out...)

  • I'm afraid to put this into the main entry, because it's non-sexual and involves a preteen. Energizer from Marvel Comics' Power Pack can, among other things, absorb energy. She has responded to a 10,000 volt anti-theft weapon and Doctor Doom's energy beams in exactly the same way: "It tickles!" Is there some sort of trope for this? It's not that she likes pain, it's that she gains something from what would normally be an attack.

  • Arivne: The Animal House example doesn't belong here. The pledge being paddled is not enjoying it (just look at his expression): they are required to say "Please, sir may I have another" by their sadistic tormentors. I'm going to remove it.

  • MrOnimusha: The Gay Perry example doesn't fit either - Perry's not the one being tortured and he doesn't act like he enjoys it, he tries to piss off the torture by insinuating the guy's gay. Then shoots him with a small revolver he keeps near his balls. That he then refers to as his faggot gun. Yeah.

Nornagest: Does the Lawrence of Arabia example actually belong in Real Life? The title character certainly seemed to enjoy his pain a bit too much in the Sixties movie, but that movie took some liberties with the character. I'm not all that familiar with his biography, but I've never heard the "masochist" bit before.

Twin Bird: Um...I can't remember the exact quote, but I'm pretty sure it didn't start "I'm a twenty-year-old man," since it was a seasoned detective who did not look a day under forty, and not many people would argue to the experience that comes from being college aged.
