bluepenguin: I'm not sure Cursed with Awesome fits here, since that one involves a supposedly bad thing turning out to be a good thing rather than vice versa.
Haven: Yeah, I'm gonna take that out, since it seems like Cursed with Awesome is the opposite of this idea: something you'd think would be sucky (and therefore you're glad you don't have it) turns out to be spiffy.
Latw PIAT: This is... interesting. I was always taught by my father that the moral of the story of the fox and the grape tree was that when the fox couldn't reach the grapes, he claimed, without being able to know, that the grapes were sour - he's decrying the grapes because he can't have them, not that he couldn't always get what he wanted.
