Describe Snipe Hunt Discussion here.

Brickman: Considering that finding the item is described in the second sentence as being a legitimate and straight application of this trope, I edited out the word "Subverted" from the Girl Genius and OOTS examples (actually, the OOTS one claimed a triple subversion). While doing so I realized that whoever wrote the OOTS one was a bit too in love with Burlew's work and tried to edit both the lengthy over-detail and the oppressive volume of spoiler tags down to more reasonable levels. Not sure how well I succeeded, someone might still want to take a crack at improving it. Anyways, I reccommend that people more familiar than me with Discworld and Family Guy determine whether or not those two examples are really subversions and rectify it if not, as this feels like the type of trope I'd expect a lot of people to mistakingly call subversions on when it's really played straight.

I believe in To Killa Mockingbird, Heck Tate, the sheriff, is called on one not as humiliation, but as a distraction as a mob can attempt to lynch Tom. Would this trope be appropriate, yet a bit subverted?
