Mister Six: Corrected the Mars Attacks example.

Seven Seals: The annoying thing is, I could neither recall that part exactly nor find a clip of it. I knew it was probably off in some way, but that's what the wiki's for, I guess.

LTR For what it's worth, some historical accounts of Sedgwick's death say he never even finished the word "distance" before being shot, getting only as far as "Dis.."

Seven Seals: That's probably one of those "it's too good to not be true" variants. Or maybe he did get shot mid-sentence and nobody wants to believe it. :-)

Silent Hunter: I've heard that story about a Victorian British General. BTW, I've taken out the Doctor Who entry because that episode hasn't aired in the US yet. Stick it in Doctor Who New Series Tropes until it does.

Eytan: Futurama isn't live-action, but I'm not entirely sure how to change this properly - maybe someone more experienced in the wiki's structure can do it?

Caswin: I'm confused - is this a coulda-been inspiring speech at the beginning of a battle, or a last-minute revelation of victory at the end to which the universe swiftly delivers a nasty counterpoint, which many of the examples seem to be?

Sean Tucker: Couldn't resist the Candlejack reference. Plus, I think the "*THUD*" completes the The Prin

Is Doomed Moral Victor a subtrope of this? Some of the examples seem to fit, like the Pitch Black sequel one. --Document N
