Idle Dandy: Well done, this can be much funnier than showing the story, particularly if the story is surreal. Kramer on Seinfeld was much funnier in the early years, when he'd come into Jerry's apartment and describe his wacky adventures, than he was in later seasons, when we saw those adventures.

Fire Walk: Cut the Buffy example, as we see enough to get what's going on, and it's not really the focus. YMMV,

  • On Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the season 3 episode "The Zeppo" focused mostly on Xander's adventures fighting a gang of zombies, with occasional glimpses at the other Scoobies averting an apocalypse. What exactly happened in their climactic battle is left unknown.
