Working Title: Punch Clock Hero: From YKTTW
Vulpy: I disagree with Solid Snake as a Punch-Clock Hero, frankly. I might agree that he started as a soldier primarily, by the end of the first MGS game, he could have easily retired. And he tried to. But he always finds his way back, despite the vicious Plot-Relevant Age-Up. Snake tries to convince us that he's just an old soldier, but didn't Raiden have a speech in MGS 2 about heroics being made of more than a sense of duty? I see Snake as more of a Martyr, trying to suffer himself so the rest of the world doesn't have to.
