Working Title: Only Known By Their Nickname: From YKTTW
Meta Four: Regarding Tails from Sonic The Hedgehog, in Casino Night Zone from Sonic 2, there are neon signs in the background reading "Sonic" and "Miles". I read somewhere that Yasushi Yamaguchi was responsible for these signs. He wanted to name the character Miles Prower, but the rest of Sonic Team wanted to name him Tails, so Yamaguchi put those "Miles" signs in the background to force a compromise. So that's why Miles Prower is only known as Tails.
However, I can't find anything on wikipedia to confirm this story. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
Phartman: The manual for Sonic 2 flat-out said that his real name is Miles Prower and his nickname was Tails, but then, that's only the US version. I always supposed that his character hadn't been fleshed out very much in his debut, and so his name could go either way at that point.
