Hit-and-run: Removed most of "Truth in Television", consisting as it did of tropers relating how they or their relatives either exemplified the trope, or else averted it by being brave and tough. *sigh*

Ununnilium:

  • A similar occurence took place in the DC Universe. In the old incarnations, the main motive behind Lex Luther and Superman's broken friendship and rise to archrivalry was Luther turning bald due to a chemical explosion while he was voluntarly working on a cure for Supes' weakness to Kryptonite. Once again it the guy's fault, and quite frankly, there's always the option of wigs. Come to think off it, with all the fantastic chemical engineering prowess he exhibited, what was to stop Luther from coming up with a hair growth tonic or something?

HGGGHKL KILL YOU

I mean... That's not really quite accurate. It wasn't the baldness he minded so much as the fact that the protoplasmic life form he'd been working on died, and that, if Superboy had been more careful in saving him, both of those things could have been prevented.

Meems: The page quote is not actually an example of the trope.

fleb: Axed.

VoodooMaster: About the current picture: JESUS.

Sceboal: I know, hilarious picture isn't it?

Japanese Teeth: Holy crap. Which episode is that from?

Scud East: "Biologically speaking, men in this day and age are not normally accustomed to seeing their own blood." The hell we aren't. Who hasn't cut himself shaving?

Blind_Dead_Mcjones: Removed the Yzak Joule and Gaara examples as they don't fit the trope (firstly, regarding Yzak, a facial injury of that nature across the face is actually quite serious due to blood loss, nerve damage which can lead to speech and/or eating problems, infection risk, risk of damage to the eye, and the psychological effects of having a disfiguring scar, as for gaara, he had an arm punch through his shoulder, thats akin to some ramming a street sign through it, the shoulder also happens to be where some rather important blood vessels reside, not to mention all the aforementioned muscle and nerve damage, with the added bonus of damage to the scapula and clavicle bones, which if sufficently damaged will render the entire arm unusable for life, effectively making someone injured in such a way a cripple.)
