Fallingwater: There are several other media that have Mid Season Upgrades. Videogames where you pilot a specific vehicle, for instance, sometimes give you a better, upgraded one, either halfway through when yours starts being too underpowered to fight the ever-increasing hordes of enemy units, or at the end, slightly before the final battle and possibly the boss fight. Example: G-Police had you use the normal gunship for most of the game, but gave you a more powerful (and MUCH nastier-looking) one near the end. Is there a specific trope for non-mecha Mid Season Upgrades, or should this one be rewritten to incorporate the rest?
