Looney Toons: I am so tempted to find a way to work the phrase "Mayfly-December romance" into this topic, somehow. <grin>

BT The P: Harr! I vote name change!

osh: likewise. *zonk*

pts: changed wabi-sabi to mono no aware, as that's the Japanese literary term the writer was getting at; wabi-sabi is the rustic beauty typical of late medieval poetry and later, haiku, but mono no aware is the appreciation of transience.

Cassius335: What, no mention of Buffy/Angel?

Zeke: Good point. I've added it.

benteen: Are we sure that Star Trek ignored the presumed fact that Spock's father, Sarek, died before his mother, Amanda? Both the Memory Alphs wiki and startrek.com mention the death of Amanda and Sarek's subsequent remarriage to another human woman (who apparently survived Sarek upon his own death), with what look like citations to several Next Generation stories that fill in that back story.

Zeke: Yes, I noticed that too. The Trek stuff was sloppy in general, so I've reworked it.

Nate The Great: What does the George Francis example have to do with this trope? This trope is not simply "one spouse lives a lot longer than the other", it has to involve the two people aging at different rates, right?
