Scifantasy: I'm not sure this is entirely fair. I mean, you've pretty much described most of medieval civilization, at least from a modern perspective. Knights, quests, royalty, magic, and obviously any good MacGuffin needs to be talked about. And given that vampires are night-dwelling creatures who drink blood, and werewolves are people except by the moon's light...you kind of face facts that these aspects will be referred to in titles.

What's next? "Science fiction books which don't use the words 'space,' 'star', 'planet,' or other words referring to outer space"? How about romance books without the word "love"?

Tanto: Hey, it's not a criticism. I like fantasy as much as the next guy. Trope =/= "This is a horrible blight on society and I want it to stop."

Drow Lord: The trope description sounds awfully snarky, though...

Kizor: Point of interest: since the words in my native language are alggu aglugi aggulgi reproduce by colliding, invocative fantasy-style terms happen naturally. The word for "nebula" is "starmist."

Not that it's consistently that poetic. Directly translated, I spend a lot of my time in the city of Gulf on the shores of Lake Water.

So It Begins: The Dark Cushion... Ok, I'd pay to read that.

Althor Enchantor: When I was a bit younger, I was kicking around the title The Dream Wars: The War of the Sun King and the Battle of Goddess Cry. Then I see this article. ...how did it manage to miss every single word in that title except King? I motion for a bit of expansion to the list.

Madrugada: I'm in agreement that the write-up is a bit to dismissive and snarky. And if anything, the list needs to be trimmed rather than expanded.

Herring of Lead: I think it should be explained that only cliched words that have been used inappropriately should be added to the list. Assassin doesnt really belong there, for instance, as you can't really describe a game with a contract killer main character as anything else, ditto for words like theif and tower.
