- Shouldn't Lord of the Rings be a literature example? Since it's, you know, only one of the most influential fantasy book trilogies ever.
- The Book doesn't really follow this trope, instead going for Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead. Sauron's forces stop fighting when he's defeated coz there's no one to fight for. Only the movie version had the entire army being destroyed (Via Mordor... implosion?).
- Little Orphan Ani? His mom dies years later.
