Describe If It Swims It Flies Discussion here.

Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: Why was this cut? It has examples, and I believe I can add another if asked. It just needs the description polished.

Midonin: The reason was given in the list of old cuts - that it duplicates Flying Seafood Special, for the most part.

mehayo: The idea was not for living things, but rather machines that fly when they should "Swim"

Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: Exactly! Flying Seafood Special is for living things. If It Swims, It Flies is for vehicles and mecha, and I marked indexes accordingly. I also added the Yellow Submarine, just to underline. It's a basic trope.

mehayo: thank you. you'll see that given enough time that this trope will create a large list of perfectly secluded examples from Flying Seafood Special. In fact, all examples listed in If It Swims, It Flies are not on Flying Seafood Special.

Heroic Jay (not on home computer): You should still make sure you're being specific. Before it got cutlisted, the original of this page attracted someone who put up a Goldeen example. And even if it's meant to be a completely separate trope, the link to Flying Seafood Special is still relevant.

mehayo: I do not deny that Flying Seafood Special is relevant. Before I saw it get cut, the most recent edit was that it was listed as a subtrope of Flying Seafood Special, which made perfect sense.

Heroic Jay (still not at home): Yeah, because I removed the Goldeen example. I brought that up because it was added to this page by someone else and you, mehayo, removed it. Was that a mistake?

mehayo: I have removed nothing from this discussion, only added my opinion.

Heroic Jay: I mean the main page, not this discussion. Looking through the history shows that one "mehayo" removed a link to Flying Seafood Special.

mehayo: the only edits I ever made to that page were creating and adding to it.

Heroic Jay: I'll take that to mean that the removal was in error and that you didn't even realize you did it.

mehayo: exactly.

Miff The Fox: You know, this was actually inverted in Cyberchase (sucessfully) and Futurama (unsuccessfully), by way of a spaceship being used as a submarine. Or is that a different trope?

mehayo: exactly what were looking for, add it to the official trope page.
