Chrome Newfie: Just found this article. Seems to duplicate the information I've been trying to put in the Japanese Holidays page I wrote. I still think a page on the holidays themselves belongs in the cultural notes list. So, we have three options:
  1. Cut Japanese Holidays.
  2. Cut Festival Episode
  3. Re-edit Festival Episode to focus on the use of festivals and holidays in anime, move the specific information on the holidays to Japanese Holidays.

I'll do whatever is preferred.

Keru: Actually, there were two matsuri in Mai-Hi ME. The first was the normal type based around the local shrine. The second, which I think doesn't remotely fit with this trope, is the Hi ME-matsuri, which is really more of a ritual perpetuated by the series' two Ancient Conspiracies.

On a separate note, I've been considering adding a separate entry for school-based festivals, which are considered distinctly separate from matsuri, though they share a lot of the same features (stalls with various comestibles, goldfish scooping).

Seth To the guy who rewrote my entry from "Groundhog Day" Loop to The Rashomon the final Episode came out and it was a groundhog day plot, Rika was the one reliving everything though not keichi which is possibly why it was so hard to work out.
