Meocross: i was the one who putt the "ABC" picture there if any of you have a much more better picture than mine then by all means replace it!

//This is in various traditional fairy-tales, e.g. "How Ian Direach got the Blue Falcon" but also many others (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_Ian_Direach_got_the_Blue_Falcon)... presumably this makes it one of the Oldest Ones in the Book

//I think I saw this in an episode of the cartoon Recess once as well.

//I seem to recall an 80s-vintage teen-oriented movie or TV movie in which a kid with a little red wagon was going around in the background (as a subplot) arranging an incredibly complex Chain of Deals. It was handled like a running gag, except at the end, the kid was shown walking off having accomplished what he wanted. I wish I could remember more details! — LT

// Yes, the comments here are separated from the bulk of the text! Looks much better this way. - CB

// This might come from the classic Children's book "The Great Brain"

Dr Dedman: The "chain of deals" bit is from "Me and My Little Brain" little brother (and author avatar) John is working in Adenville while Tom is off at school. Typical of Tom, he works it beautifully till the end, then he realizes he didn't know what HE wanted to get.
