Working Title: X Was Better When It Was Called Y: From YKTTW

Whogus The Whatsler: That Hercules one is just weird. I mean, aside from being a comedic Disney animated feature, it's not a retread of Aladdin at all. The story, well, it's about this superhuman guy who gets separated from his home world in infancy and raised by human farmers, growing up among people while being much more powerful than them; as he nears adulthood he goes on a voyage of self-discovery, receives a message from his father that tells him about his history and legacy and inspires him to go and start committing acts of superheroism. He becomes a really popular and famous superhero, but becomes such a threat to the big evil plan of a bald supervillain with dopey minions that the supervillain tricks him into losing his powers then tries to kill him, but with help the hero gets better and saves the day, only his love interest dies. So he brings her back from the dead.

So yeah, Disney's Hercules was clearly an entirely original work.

Lord TNK: Did you read the bolded part in the description?

Po8: Lord TNK—-sarcasm check on Whogus The Whatsler.

"It says this isn't suppose to be "a place record individual tropers' opinions about the relative merits of works". That's exactly what most of the examples are. ::thatother1dude"

Dragon Quest Z: If it's a mention within a work, then it's not from a troper. If it's from a troper, those should be deleted or moved to a Troper Tales page. You shouldn't cut a page over cleanup needs.

Here, I moved those here for now. EDIT: Moved them to a Troper Tales page.

Thatother 1 Dude: Sounds fine to me.

Antheia: I cleared the main article up a bit; that should help too. I suspect example sorting would help even more, but I'm unfamiliar with some of the examples.

* There's a Penny Arcade strip where one of the characters says he liked Firefly better when it was called Outlaw Star. Shale: Can anyone point me to this strip? Because I can't remember it and can't find it with a text search.

Rottenbutter: That's because it's actually from Hookie Dookie Panic. —-

  • gibberingtroper: While David Spade gets credit for using this Trope as a trademark bit, shouldn't he get for naming or codifying it? I don't think anyone was doing this bit before he did it or if they did, it was a proto-form of the gag.
