Happy Corner: Kudos to Tacitus for expanding this page - it was definitely needing more love/hate.

Tacitus: (bows) I merely built on the foundation of others, and in the fullness of time new generations shall make their own contributions to my achievements, continuing a chain extending from the Founding to the End of the Internet. Oh, and Unknown Troper at 68.58.123.201: "Space Flopera?" Brilliant.

Fast Eddie: Just wanting to share my amazement that this article employs spoiler font. Mind boggling.

Tacitus: Schmuck Bait. It either makes sure those sections get read, or else prompts others to read/watch the book/film to see what all the screaming's about. And hey, we wouldn't want to "spoil" things (even more so than the source material does) for fools such as myself who have their curiosity peaked by the entry.

Pikachukid: Okay, question: How is it a plot hole if the planes that couldn't put up a measly nine-minute fight against the Psychlos defeat them (aside from the obvious bits)? The big reason for the Psychlo success was that they attacked an unsuspecting enemy. That was the main strength behind the human attack in the movie: The Psychlos are too busy worrying about leverage to figure that the humans are revolting.

Tacitus: I just found it really depressing that super-advanced alien spacecraft, even if piloted by unmotivated backwater security guards caught by surprise, could be overpowered by an equal number of millennium-old airplanes flown by profoundly stupid pilots. The implication is that the terrifying, galaxy-conquering Psychlos, the most feared and loathed species in several universes, managed a really, really lucky sucker-punch on Earth when they originally conquered it.

Willy Four Eyes: I hope y'all don't mind, but I just split off the film and the book sections of their page to their own namespaces. Some of them were listed in both.

Tacitus: I liked it better when the page was one-stop shopping for all your Battlefield Earth needs, but meh, that's just me. If someone feels strongly enough about it they can undo the split. As for the duplicate tropes, I think they got listed twice because each version of the story used them in a slightly different way. And using them in both sections probably took up less space than a third "both versions of Battlefield Earth contain..." section.

Am I the only one who likes this book, and isn't a Scientologist? Granted, a lot of it may be nostalgia, since I read it in the First Grade, but... Seriously, if you're slightly mentally insane, and ignore the anti-psychologist stuff, and have your Anti-Disbelief Shielding powered up, it's really a decent book to read when you need to go brain dead for a little while and not think about what's going on in a book.

You're not alone, for I also enjoyed the book, overall. My experience ping-ponged alot, however. One chapter I thought it was alright, the next I was groaning at how awful or stupid it was, the next I was laughing for many of the same reasons. It does provide a pretty unique read; I've yet to encounter another book that changes in quality so damn much so quickly.

I will say this, I derived alot of laughter out of the sheer stupidity of the characters, the idiocy of many of the plot points, the plot in general and the hilariously overt "Psychology is baaaad" Scientologist references. If anything, Ronnie was no master at subtlety. ~Kimo
