Sabbo: Moulin Rouge is Australian?

Duckay: Although mostly financed by Americans, it had an Australian director, a fairly high proportion of Australian actors, and was filmed in Australia. There's some debate over whether that makes it Australian or not.

Feetman: The length of this list says a lot about the state of australian cinema.

Jack Slack: The act of getting funding for a film in Australia is not exactly easy, Feetman; worse, the low population out here means that any chance of making your money back requires it be so damned good as to break out overseas. That happens once in a blue moon. The nasty side-effect this has, though, is that it means critics (who understand the logistical painfulness involved in making an Australian film) tend to go easy on them. Which means, in turn, crap films. Australian film is mostly crap, to be honest. And I say this as an Australian.
