Daibhid C: It's not exactly the same thing, but a regular occurrence in Midsomer Murders is for Barnaby and his assistant to deduce who the murderer is... and realise that they are currently alone somewhere with the last person they need to kill to fulfull whatever their motive is. Usually, when we cut to the murderer, the fact that Barnaby has solved the crime several miles away has somehow caused them to begin acting openly insane (not that the victim notices).

Caswin: Does The Lovely Bones play out this way, by any chance?
