Working Title: Adaptational Attractiveness: From YKTTW

Prfnoff: "And if you're one of the few who noticed that the hand yanking the covers away in the "Book" image on this page belongs to a man, you might want to check Hide Your Lesbians for other examples." I don't think so — why is he complaining about his wife? (Yes, she looks rather manly, but...)

Matthew The Raven: Welcome to TV Tropes, where everything is Ho Yay! But yeah, take it out.

Captain Crawdad: I took this out:

  • Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon, though it's possible the choice not to go for a stronger physical resemblance via makeup partially owed to the need for an all-out prosthetics job for the scenes in which Andy is playing his Tony Clifton alter ego, and they didn't hold back on that. Note that Carrey narrowly beat out Edward Norton for the role (according to IMDb, this was the studio's choice because Carrey was more bankable; the director couldn't choose between the two) — the trope would have applied equally well to Norton.

because the film didn't go to any real length to pretty Kaufman up. Carrey (and Norton for that matter) isn't particularly known for his looks, and there's actually a decent amount of physical resemblence between the two.

Monty: How about an entry for Jesus? In the Bible he's only described as being nothing special, physically. We'd be hard pressed to find any examples since the Renaissance that DIDN'T portray him as a handsome white man instead of a plain-looking lower-class Jew. From The Last Supper to Mel Gibson's "The Passion," just try to find a group that looks like a wandering ex-carpenter and his longshoreman buddies.
