Ununnilium: Nicely-done! ^_^

Kilyle: Hey, is there a trope to go with that one comic book where Cap "fought" the crushing of The American Dream in the form of a man who was trying to make a revolutionary type of non-gas car but was laughed at by society and defamed by people interested in keeping his car from becoming a reality... and ultimately ended up atop a building, wrapped in the American flag, looking like he was going to kill himself... only to jump off and show off his new flying machine? That's the one comic that really stuck with me: the cover, with Cap struggling against a giant object trying to crush the man, and the words on the cover proclaiming it's the one fight he may not win (or something like that); Cap nearly abandoning his faith in America due to the way they're treating the inventor; the inventor's inventiveness getting treated as a sleep-activated superpower; and the final image, wherein Cap catches the falling flag and reaffirms his faith in the nation with "And this... this is the flag I love."

So... any trope there that could be put up? 'Cuz I'd love to see it at least mentioned....

  • Joysweeper: Oooh. That sounds pretty cool. I don't know about tropes, but do you know what issue or run this was?

Wizard Joni: I want to know too.

Joysweeper: It's posted here! I think one trope is Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped.

re: the hoy-yay in this page. Really? Tony breaking down and crying because his best friend and colleague got shot to death for no good reason and the last thing he ever said to him was petty and cruel? Tony's reaction is kinda regardless of sexuality if you ask me.

Haven: Agreed with that, but I guess it's in the context of the rest of their ho-yay-filled past. Also, people will interpret anything to be Ho Yay.

A Troper: I don't know if it's a trope, but i can't let it go without mention: Cap. is, in universe, the most famous among other superheroes. Everyone has, at one point declared how much they admire or respect him. In Ultimate spider man peter tells MJ "I've been to the ultimates tower. I've met Captain freaking America!". Is that a trope?
