okay, could somebody explain what the Late To The Joke aspect of Piggy's "I'm a Pig, I need Commitment!" joke is? I don't get it.

It's related to an old joke. It comes in many forms. Let me give it a shot:
A chicken said to a pig, "Why don't we surprise Farmer McDonald by making him a breakfast of ham and eggs?"
The pig replied, "That's easy for you to say. You'd only have to make a contribution. I'd have to make a commitment!"
