Paige Turner is an American Professional Wrestler from Dewey, IL who competes in Texas and Oklahoma. She debuted in 2012. She is a 1x RCW Angels Division Champion and a 3x IZW Queens Crown Champion.
Not to be confused with the other Paige, a British-born wrestler and manager also known as Britani Knight and Saraya (who incidentally used a Finishing Move called the "Paige Turner"). Also not to be confused with The Librarian from All Elite Wrestling, who is played by Leva Bates.
"Decimating Tropes":
- Action Girl: Well she tried, but Turner didn't really start taking off until she took a turn to the dark side.
- Arch-Enemy: Her former employer Erica
- Ascended Extra: In the interview mentioned under Straight Edge below, she said that she ran sound for PCW and MPX before she started wrestling.
- Badass Boast/I Am the Noun: Before her match at Inspire Pro Light the Fuse, she said, "I was the first one here. I AM the XX Division."
- Badass Bookworm/Hot Librarian/The Smart Girl: Her whole gimmick, and it's legitimate, since she actually has a Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences and has worked as a librarian.
- Big "YES!": Her response on Twitter to "Weird Al" Yankovic's "Word Crimes."
- Bitch Understudy/The Starscream: Started in Impact Zone Wrestling in Oklahoma as an assistant to Erica, ended up feuding with her.
- Catchphrase: Holds her finger to her lips and says, "Shhhh."
- Cool Crown: The Queen of IZW title is represented by one.
- The Corrupter/Well-Intentioned Extremist: At the time, her profile on Inspire Pro's website said, "Turner spent most of 2014 converting various females into certified Bookmarks, in an attempt to educate the masses by any means necessary."
- Davita vs. Goliath: Inverted, with a large dose of Redemption Demotion. She got a Face reaction for her entrance before her match with Bree Ann at TOP (Texas Outlaw Promotion) Wrestling's February 20, 2016 show at the Mineral Wells Expo Center...and pretty much got Squashed. Aside from a senton and working over Bree Ann's neck, her offense proved much less effective as a Face than as a Heel.
- Everything Is Big in Texas: Billed from Dallas in Magnificent Ladies of Wrestling.
- Fan Art: Here is one example from her Twitter.
- Finishing Move: A chokebomb she calls the Dewey Decimator.
- Foodfight!: In this IZW vignette, she and Lisa Generro had one with Erica at a Cali Burrito, after Erica had had enough of them mocking her for Eating Lunch Alone.
- Gimmick Matches: Defeated Queen of IZW Champion Miss Diss Lexia and Angel Blue in a Mêlée à Trois Crown on a Pole match to win the Crown at IZW Coronation 2014: 10th Anniversary Show, March 15, 2014.
- Heel: Her primary role, except after she left the Rabid Empire in Metroplex Wrestling.
- Hurricane of Puns: There's her name for starters. She calls both her fans and her followers "Bookmarks."
- Miss Diss Lexia and Livi La Vida Loca qualify as well.
- I Work Alone: She's been in some tag matches, but, her success has come as a singles wrestler.
- Insane Troll Logic: A Played for Laughs example: Fact 5 in this Twitter post about the benefits of reading:Dinosaurs didn't read. Look what happened to them.
- Kick the Dog: During her match with Leva Bates at Inspire Pro No Turning Back, July 27, 2014, Miss Diss Lexia and KC Warfield mocked Leva, who was Cosplaying as Catwoman, by ripping up her Comic Books right in front of her. It ultimately backfired, as Leva won the match after Paige missed with Throw the Book at Them.
- Line-of-Sight Name: In this interview, she said that she found the name "Paige Turner" in a catalog when she was working in a library.
- Punny Name: Her stage name is a play on "page turner," slang for a really interesting book.
- Purple Is Powerful: Her current gear is purple and yellow.
- "Reading Is Cool" Aesop: Would you expect anything else? She brings books to the ring with her, often The New Book of Knowledge, sometimes leading to Throw the Book at Them, as seen here.
- The post mentioned under Insane Troll Logic qualifies too.
- She even assigned a Summer Reading List for the fans of Inspire Pro.
- Red Baroness: "The Lethal Librarian"
- Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!:In RCW, since she has the promoter, Brandon Oliver, as her de facto manager, and, after Delilah Doom pinned her for the RCW Angels Division Title on March 6, 2015, Oliver had the ring announcer Retcon it into a non-title match.
- Steven Ulysses Perhero: A wrestling librarian named Paige Turner.
- Translator Buddy: For Erik Ortiz in this video from River City Wrestling, though, as the video is categorized under Comedy, it likely was not an exact translation.
- True Art Is Not Popular: This is actually discussed In-Universe during the Paige Turner-Leva Bates match at Inspire Pro No Turning Back. After KC Warfield and Miss Diss Lexia tore up Leva Bates' comic books, one of the announcers said he wasn't an aficionado but that they might have been worth something. This led to the announcers arguing over whether comics qualify as literature or not.
- Villain Has a Point: Before her match with Miss Diss Lexia at Inspire Pro Light the Fuse, February 6, 2014, there was an appearance by wrestler/trainer George de la Isla and one of his trainees, Erica. Paige talked to Erica and tried to get her to leave de la Isla and side with her, even offering Erica an argyle sweater. After the match, Erica picked up the sweater and left with Paige without saying a word.
- Would Hit a Girl: She was supposed to face Livi La Vida Loca at MPX Valoween I, October 27, 2012, when Li Fang and his manager Nigel Rabid interrupted, complaining about the way the company was being run, and it turned into Paige and Loca vs. Fang in a handicap match. Near the end, Rabid pulled Paige off the apron, setting up Fang pinning Loca for the win.
- Wrestling Doesn't Pay: A wrestling librarian.
