Janine Duvitski, born Christine Janine Drzewicki, (28 June 1952), is a British actress best known for playing Jane Edwards in Waiting for God and Pippa Trench in One Foot in the Grave.
After training at East 15 Acting School, she started her acting career with small roles in dramas on the telly. While looking for an agent, she was approached by The BBC to audition for a role as a 13-year-old girl in an episode of BBC2 Playhouse. This was the boost that Duvitski's career needed, and she found more regular work, which helped her get noticed by Mike Leigh, who cast her in his play Abigail's Party. Duvitski also reprised the role in Play for Today.
In The '80s, she joined Cowboys in its second series, playing brash secretary Muriel Bailey. This was Duvitski's first starring role but wouldn't be her last. At the start of The '90s, she was cast in her two most well-remembered roles, those being the mousey Jane Edwards in Waiting for God and the slightly dim Pippa Trench in One Foot in the Grave.
Come the Turn of the Millennium, Duvitski played Eve in The Worst Week of My Life and Jacqueline Stewart in Benidorm, the latter role she played for 73 episodes across 11 years. In The New '10s, she played Mrs. Goadion in This is Jinsy and Peggy in Boy Meets Girl.
One of her daughters, Ruby Bentall, is also an actress.
