Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Yes, if they are official they're not "fics" unless the concept itself is referenced.
Most of these examples sound like Alternate Timeline or other forms of spin-offs.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI see at least one actual fan-creation in the "officials" list (good ending to Metamorphosis), a couple in-universe examples in webcomics that get maybe confusing with the split.
A lot of the examples sound like they've been defined by being a Fixed Version created by an author different from the original author, but both of them being official parts of the franchise. Overlaps with Armed with Canon but I'm not sure if its a 100% overlap or if it could be another trope sitting between the two.
Edited by AdannorSo, should I cut the examples and move the actual fanfics back onto the main page? Or is TRS required for that?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!TRS is the best option here.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Problem is that TRS is full at the moment. I can’t make a thread for this trope until there’s space.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!IDK if TRS is needed; if the examples are agreed to be misuse and nothing about the trope needs to change in order to resolve it, you can just do cleanup.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI agree. Salvaged Story is another trope where you can send examples if they fit.
ValdoFor now I’m going to delete all the "official" examples and put the actual fanfic ones back on the main page.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I also noticed that there was a commented out not saying "sourced examples only", I should probably bring that over to the main page.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I’m also wondering about the two video examples under Fix Fic.
Edited by PlasmaPower Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! There's No Salvaged Story Link on The Fix Fic Page. If going to fix The Fix Fic Page, Send the Official CANON Examples to Salvaged Story & Create a Link to it. Or in other words: If your going to fix it, Fix it right!!!!!
Edited by ArkhamkongNone of those are rules that exist, and also, this query was several months old. Locking.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.
So, the main page for Fix Fic has "official" examples of the trope. Something about that doesn't feel right. A Fix Fic is something, by definition, something the fans wrote up to right wrongs in the original work, not Pre-TRS Author's Saving Throw. Not only does this encourage Trope Decay, a lot of these examples are speculative (and some examples even admit this). I find it funny how the actual Fix Fics are on their own subpage while the "official" ones are the ones on the main page.
Any idea what I should do with these examples?
