Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes? thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread, as do the self-demonstrating character pages.

If you can, I think that works
If someone wants, Injustice: Other can absorb Injustice - Brainiac, while Injustice: One Earth Regime can MAYBE absorb Injustice - Superman.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsFor Fallout: New Vegas, there are the following CSP's
- Fallout: New Vegas - The Courier (69,493)
- Fallout: New Vegas - Robert Edwin House (71,187)
Go for it
From Characters.Super Smash Bros:
- 23–26 (Unlockable Fighters 2) (67,400 characters)
- Ganondorf (54,399 characters)
- 60–63 (DLC Fighters) (91,362 characters)
- Bayonetta (52,607 characters)
- 70–75 (DLC Fighters 1) (116,021 characters)
- 76–82 (DLC Fighters 2) (95,173 characters)
- Steve (45,103 characters)
- Sephiroth (57,215 characters)
- Pyra / Mythra (47,015 characters)
- 23–26 (Unlockable Fighters 2) (67,400 characters)
Ganondorf and Bayonetta can easily be merged back. Joker and Hero can probably be merged back. For the final one, Steve and Pyra/Mythra can be merged, but Sephiroth pushes it close to the limit.
I agree with merging them all back, except for Joker and Sephiroth. Like you said, merging Sephiroth back would push the page close to 250,000 bytes, but if Joker was merged back, the page would end up being 218,012 bytes, which is also extremely close to the limit.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.Another I'm too lazy to do, but for Metroid:
- Metroid - The Metroids can absorb Metroid - Metroid Prime and Dark Samus (105k+ total)
- Metroid - Space Pirates (118k+) can absorb Metroid - Mother Brain (51k+; the total would be about 170k) and MAYBE Metroid - Ridley (64k+)
- Metroid - The Chozo could absorb Metroid - Raven Beak (about 150k total)
I feel like Space Beth should be in Following Rick and Morty: The Smith-Sanchez Family page as she is t a Variant and it’s intentionally not clear who is the clone. Also she is treated as a member of the family

Arrowverse: Team Arrow is really close to the 250,000 bytes limit. So, I thought maybe it would be a good idea to give Earth 1 Laural her own page as she is 60,718 bytes. Thoughts?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadMaybe put both Laurels on the same page?
I am not actually sure if that is a good idea. Like we don't do that with any other Arrowverse character, so it would be odd to just do that with Laurel.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadWell we never did so in the past because we've never had a need to. Since there's almost never been an instance of doppelgangers both being part of the main cast and replacing each other.
The only other time that happened was with the Harrison Wells-es and I've thought about giving them their own page for a few years now, since Arrowverse: Team Flash page is getting really bloated and I had to move a bunch of characters off to other pages, due to the page size warning popping up.
With the Laurels, they are in the unique position where Laurel-2 actually replaces Laurel-1, and both of them share the mantle of Black Canary. Meaning both of them have a lot of overlapping tropes that can go under a "In General" folder.
Also, while not exactly the same we do sort of do that with Arrowverse: The Hawks and Arrowverse: Firestorm where connected characters are grouped on the same page.

I don't know I am still not in favor of that. Like they are both big enough on their own and despite replacing her they are still very different. There is a difference between a couple that reincarnating/characters who merge into one being and two people who despite having the same name have vastly different personalities and relationships with the other characters. Like if others are for it sure but I prefer consistency with franchise character pages.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadThey have a combined total of 120K bytes, which is still smaller than Oliver and Barry's pages.
I know their personalities and relationships are different. But it's not like we're merging all their tropes into a single list. They'd still be kept in separate folders like with Arrowverse: Caitlin Snow & (Killer) Frost.
Edited by Snowy66 on Apr 18th 2024 at 3:26:24 AM
Again that is different they share a body. I mean like I am not saying that they would be too big but that their folders would be so big, and I just think it would be a pain to navigate.
However, if others think that they should be merged I will go with that.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI mean, even on pages with multiple characters, they can still be split into multiple folders based on lettering. Back when MCU character pages had variants listed, they'd have the alphabet folders on top and the variant folders at the bottom.
Well we'd probably have to do that anyway with the Harrison Wellses, cuz the Team Flash page is on the verge of overshooting the size limit again. They have almost the same situation as the Laurels.
The reason I'm suggesting it is, it just feels a bit weird to me to have two pages with almost the exact same name. Both of them are "Dinah Laurel Lance"
Edited by Snowy66 on Apr 18th 2024 at 3:32:31 AM
I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t out both Laurels on the same page. There’s plenty of precedent in other franchises and just because we haven’t done it for the Arrowverse yet doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do it ever.
Blue's Clues: Blue was just created, despite being only 21k characters. On that note:
- Blue's Clues: Yellow House Residents (44,283)
- Blue's Clues: Human Hosts (69,314)
- Blue's Clues: Blue (21,162)
- Blue's Clues: Spice Family (24,553)
- Total: 159,312 characters
- Blue's Clues: Neighborhood (19,285)
- Blue's School (36,343)
- Total: 55,628 characters
Absolutely - go for it
I mean we are talking about other franchise we are talking about the Arrowverse and I feel like consistency is important. That said I have turned around on the idea upon remembering that we do basically the same thing with the two versions of Arrowverse: Eobard Thawne.
I am going to do the Kingdom Hearts merges tonight. Sorry for the delay but life has be hetic.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread
Go ahead for the moment. But it seems the numbers of subpages is gonna decrease a lot.
