Sigh, I can't seem to find a link or video anywhere, they're all taken down. I was too late on the upkeep. Thankfully, I found what I presume to be the theme song, 'We are the Crystal Gems'... and that enough has gotten me hooked. Rebecca hasn't lost a bit of her songwriting talent.
Looking forward to it's television premiere.
So the series itself is being redesigned and it looks pretty terrible.
...
...
... when exactly did they say it would premiere?
... Good
....... GOD...
Why would they make the Crystal Gems not-hot?

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Hopefully, before it airs, Steven has a hight change to be a little taller than The white hair gardian. I like the first design alot better!

Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI'm sad. I liked Garnet's Nicki Minaj look.
She still does have it. (If you mean the white hair gardian. I just started browsing in here.)
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justice... did CN give any indication they were changing the designs?!
CN is even more fucked than ever if they think these re-designs are going to bring in viewers - whether they've seen the pilot or not.
Even if the writing/storytelling/characteriztion & development are good, if the animation doesn't match, this sadly won't last!
The fallout is already happening... We're in the minority of being disappointed at all of this.

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.I suddenly understand much better why CN didn't want the pilot to get leaked.

This is looking to be a disaster... And yet another year of failure for CN. No questions asked!
And I sadly DO feel this way, alarmist or not!

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Now that I've had time to let the new designs set in, and discovered that some of them (namely Pearl and Garnet) look like some of the shows concept art,◊ I'm not too upset about it anymore. If nothing else, the concept art implies that the redesigns weren't entirely some sort of executive mandate.

Oh my god! The character designs, like, changed! It's the end of the world! Goodbye, CN, I can only see bankrupcy in your future because you, like, changed the designs of the characters! A meteor is coming straight to Earth because you changed the designs! You doomed us all, CN!
Jeezus, guys, get over it.
Oh yes, because seeing the redesigns in stiff poses sure says quality.
Now, her sketches on the other hand softened the blow, however, this is weird how we already have an excellent pilot only for the show itself to not look like that.
When you show us something appealing, don't change it lest you ruin part of the appeal. Complete overhauls can do a lot to alienate people who previously loved something.
No, it's not the end of the world. We can only hope that the designs don't indicate a significant drop in quality. Now I have to wait for an actual episode to properly gage how I'll feel on this, though, and that kind of irritates me since I already liked where the pilot was going and now they've already changed that.
http://www.longcriercat.deviantart.com I'm thirsty. Got any ink? Resident Pen Ward antagonist.I still think she can/could do one more remake of the characters before any official airing, but yeah, it's NOT the end of the world:
IT'S THE END OF MODERN TELEVISION AND WESTERN ANIMATION COMBINED!
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI caught a glimpse—literally a glimpse of Pearl in a CN commercial. I think she looked normal.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Yep. So we'll see a sneak peek during big fan weekend coming up. Hope to see them looking a "little" more like their original selves (doubt it)
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI wouldn't be surprised if they ended up using the original designs after all. (And now, to knock on some trees.)
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Saw the sneak peek, and I love it already. They seemed to have used the original design, but I can't tell.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI'm sure they just used a clip from the Pilot that leaked a few months ago. I'm sure we'll see the new designs closer to when the show airs.
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them. You raised my hopes and dashed them greatfully. Bravo.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI don't think the new designs will look EXACTLY like that. It seems like they were superdeformed for that picture. It's likely their proportions will be closer to the pilot.
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them.Yay! I wanna go to the panel!
I really enjoyed the pilot of Steven Universe. It's nice to see a variety of female body types, especially in animation, and the way the gems are all portrayed as having individual strengths is very encouraging. To me, Steven doesn't seem like that archetypal unlikable schmuck; he's just a kid, and he's clearly designed to grow and get stronger to catch up with the girls. Waiting for this series to come out on TV is going to be a chore!
By the way, am I the only one who detects a touch of Ghibli influence in the animation style? The way Pearl's expressions shift, the detail of Amethyst's nail polish... it's a very charming look.
I've returned from the depths to continue politely irritating the good people of TV Tropes.(◕‿◕✿)
