Erina is an engineer and a self-proclaimed adventurer who is full of curiosity and pursues a romantic vision of adventure. She moves to Era Sheila, AKA the City of Machines, that is said to be built by the legendary adventurer Era whom she looked up to as her rolemodel. As she moved between towns however, she accidentally leaves her wallet behind on the counter of a tavern as she rushes to take the train to Era Sheila. Now she works for the Miners Guild, helping them repair machinery and collect scraps from other workers while also enduring sexual gestures from the sex-starved men of the city.
Just what kind of romance does this city have in store for her?
Erina and the City of Machinesnote is a turn-based RPG H-Game made in RPG Maker MZ by coolsister. It was released on 5 November 2023, and continued development with the latest updated version 1.10 being released on 27 January 2024.
Tropes:
- Absurdly Spacious Sewer: The sewers leading from West Era's clothing shop to the Undercity are large enough that they have become host to dangerous monsters. Somewhat Justified as it was mentioned that it was formerly part of an elaborate excavation site before Era Sheila was built on top of it.
- All Men Are Perverts: Downplayed. While there are a lot of men who take sexual interest in Erina's assets, some of them are more preoccupied with minding their own business and may only turn their heads if Erina talks to them while in a revealing outfit.
- Ambiguous Situation: It is unclear whether the elf is Dead All Along or not given her incorporeal form. When Erina is asked if Sheila is still alive, she answers that 'alive' isn't the exact word she would use to describe her.
- And Now for Someone Completely Different: At some point in the story, player control switches to Claire, who has sex with Grus in a few-hours Flashback.
- Blob Monster: The Slime is a Recurring Boss that attacks Erina a few times throughout the story, first by dissolving her clothes in the Underground Lake, then by attempting to capture and impregnate her after she bathes in the Water Spring at Coal Plant, and finally in the Sewers.
- Bookends: Near the beginning of the game, Erina has a dream where sje encounters a young elf girl who beckons her through the forest and towards a cliff. At the end of the main story, she buries the last treasure right at where it was kept, on the same cliff that she followed Sheila to.
- Break Meter: Some of the larger monsters have the Break Meter that fills up whenever they take damage, and when it is full, they will be stunned and their turn skipped. Erina can learn moves that take advantage of this mechanic, such as Shield Break/Full Break, which fills the Break Meter faster, and Assault Blow/Finishing Blow that deals extra critical damage on an enemy that is in a 'Break' state.
- But Liquor Is Quicker: Should Erina let Rosch and Danny stay in the shed with hernote during the Coal Plant Investigation quest, the boys suggest having a round of drinks before bed. After having multiple swigs of Steamed Ale, Erina passes out drunk and the two proceed to rape her while she is in an intoxicated state.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: Many of the male NPCs consider Erina to be more attractive compared to other girls because of her large breasts, much to her chagrin.
- Clothing Damage: The Outfit Damage Gauge determines how ripped-up Erina's outfit looks, all the way to leaving her completely exposed when it reaches 0 as the first boss fight demonstrates. There are clothes-fixing machines in Era that can repair outfit durability free of charge, as well as repair kit and damage kit items that repair and tear up the outfit respectively.
- Developer's Foresight: If the player manages to defeat the first slime boss without being binded (which can be done via New Game Plus), Erina will still be drenched in slime, which then dissolves her clothes if they try to walk away from the underground lake afterwards.
- Extended Gameplay: Once the player finishes the main story, new sidequests will be available and they can choose to either finish the remaining sidequests or start a new game with their levels and most of their items intact.
- Fountain of Youth: The Eternal Elixir, which Sheila concocted to make her husband Era live as long as an elf to defy the Mayfly–December Romance that occurs in a human-elf couple. While Erina shows no interest in using it, Grus on the other hand steals it for himself in an attempt to recreate the Era and Sheila romance fantasy using Erina and Claire as his 'wives'.
- Gameplay and Story Segregation: Erina accidentally leaves her whole wallet behind in a small town as she hurries to take a train to Era Sheila. However, this introductory cutscene will not deduct gold from her inventory, which becomes especially noticable if the player has accumulated a vast amount of wealth before starting New Game Plus.
- Guest-Star Party Member: Certain arcs of the game will have NPCs join you temporarily as Party Fellows to provide support in battle, such as Rosch and Danny at the Coal Plant who inflict damage with their scimitar and knives, and
- Hot Springs Episode: Erina is elated to find a hidden hot springs at the end of the Quarry II dungeon and can choose to bathe there if the player lets her. Spending too much time there will lead to a pair of miners discovering her naked and then joining her in the bath much to her embarrassment.
- Hot Witch: Claire, a witch from Sheila whose bustiness is on par with Erina's, but is also so promiscuous that she sells drugs and toys at her Ambrosia at night.
- Hub City: Era Sheila, a city named after a famous adventurer named Era whom Erina looks up to, and Sheila, the elf who fell in love with Era a long time ago. Erina moves there to work with the Miners' Guild at the beginning of the game.
- Imagine Spot: The Director in the Railyard has one in his first request where he hires Erina as his 'secretary' and plays with her breasts, before the latter snaps him out of his thoughts.
- Item Crafting: The workbench in both the Miners Guild Workshop and Erina's Workshop serve as a place for Erina to craft items, weapons and armor, and is often where the Plot Coupons are crafted.
- Jumped at the Call: As soon as monsters start invading the Railyard early on, Erina wastes no time in fighting them off and saving the workers from their assault.
- Masturbation Means Sexual Frustration: After a day of being sexually harassed by a few men in East Era, and getting slimed along with her clothes melted off on that same day, Erina spends the remainder of the night masturbating in her workshop before sleep. When the Libido Meter is at 100, she can do this again when the player interacts with the workshop bed at night or with the break room in Quarry II, in addition to gaining extra Lewdness when she uses Sexy Portrait II or a dildo.
- Mysterious Waif: The mysterious elf girl Sheila who frequently appears in Erina's Dream Sequences until they finally meet after the latter teleports to Greywood from Hazy Lake.
- Naughty Tentacles: There are two kinds of tentacle monsters Erina can encounter. The first is found inside the Mother Worm where it will swallow Erina and emit a numbing gas while stuffing her full of fluids. The second, the Milksucker, is found in the Water Plant where it can inject a special fluid inside Erina that makes her lactate.
- Non-Standard Game Over: While Death Is a Slap on the Wrist is in full effect for this game, there are few instances that can send the player back to the title screen should they happen.
- Losing in the fight against the chimera-transformed Legato results in him killing Erina off-screen.
- Being defeated in another fight against the Final Boss leads to Erina and Claire being chained up and Made a Slave by Grus, who uses a hypnotic drug to strip them of their free will and subject them to a forced relationship with him.
- Being defeated by the Mother Worm or choosing to head deeper into the monster's innards during the post-game side questnote will have Erina be overwhelmed by the aphrodisiac gas and her naked body stuck to the fleshy walls for the rest of her days to be used as a breeding vassal for its off-springs.
- Painted-On Pants: Erina wears form-fitting spats underneath her shorts in her Guild Outfit, and foregoes the shorts in her Light Worker Outfit, which she is forced to wear after the former gets dissolved by the blue slime. Rosch takes notice of the change in outfit and gropes her ass after she talks with Maxim the next day, commenting how it feels much better with the spats on.
- The Peeping Tom: Quite a few male NPCs, especially Rosch, Danny and Bong will peep on Erina whenever she takes a shower or use a toilet to urinate. Rosch may even become so bold as to barge into the shower with Erina and attempt to rape her there, succeeding in doing so if you let him.
- Pervert Revenge Mode: In some H-Scenes where a guy forces himself too closely onto Erina for her comfort, you are given the choice to either let Erina give into her lust or correspond with this, provided your libido is low enough.
- Pile Bunker: Erina's main weapon is a pile bunker that she built herself after reading a manual given to her by Bors K. Throughout the story, she upgrades it to reduce stamina consumption of her skills, among other boosts to the stats it gains.
- Playable Epilogue: Should Erina end up getting pregnant in the post-game, the game skips several months into the future to the point where her pregnant belly shows and there are after-story scenarios that allow her to still explore parts of Era or Mr. Owner's mansion, though most of the areas will be locked off.
- Playboy Bunny: Bartender Hacienda will ask Erina to put on variations of the bunny outfit on at least two occasions; the first is the usual Playboy Bunny suit with the leotard, tights and bunny ears, while the second goes for the sexy maid theme. Erina wears the latter while working at the Bunny Rabbits brothel.
- Power Crystal: Crystals, as they are called, are mined in quarries and serve as fuel for the Era Furnaces that provide power to the settlements in the setting, as well as other machinery such as the Magic Dolls.
- Sexy Soaked Shirt: Early on, Erina tries to help the Parts Shop Owner organise stuff in Warehouse I when the steam cylinder she was carrying bursts open and blow steam in her face, resulting in her tank top becoming soaked and wet and prompting her to take a shower. The player can also invoke this by using any Clothes-Fixing Machine that has a red lamp, or by being hit with a steam attack from the Heat Beasts in Quarry II.
- Shower Scene: The player can have Erina take a shower in the bathroom of the Miners Guild Workshop to reduce libido and vagina gauge, though there's a chance of a man appearing in front of the shower curtain to peep or even barge into the shower to have sex with her.
- Sleazy Photoshoot: After following the guide through Undercity to a studio, Erina must do a photoshoot as a model in bikini alongside another man where they act as a 'couple' going out on the beach. The cameraman will ask Erina to remove her top during some shots, and she will receive a bonus to her pay if she complies. Near the end of the photoshoot, Erina can choose to take a special drink that results in her becoming so aroused that she kisses her 'boyfriend' and then have sex with him, and the camera will continue taking pictures on her in that lewd position.
- Slipping a Mickey: If Erina agrees to take a diuretic drug from Bong before giving her pee sample, she will pass out right after urinating due to the 'side effect' of the drug and Bong will rape her while she is unconscious.
- Super Boss: After the main story conclusion, Erina can choose to talk with Sheila at Greywood Peninsula to fight Thorndahar and its parent, and with Legato at the Magic Guild to fight a powerful chimera boss beneath the building. All of them are much tougher than any other enemy encountered in the game.
- Super Move Portrait Attack: Inverted. If Erina's outfit durability reaches 0, the player will be treated to an animated cut-in of Erina's clothes being shredded apart, leaving her naked.
- Steampunk: Much of the technology in the world of Erina and the City of Machines is powered by steam engines that are fueled with either coal or the more fantastical Crystals.
- Swallowed Whole: The Mother Worm in the Desert Chasm swallows both Erina and Claire when they investigate the worms sticking out of the sand at the end of the dungeon. To escape its innards, Erina has to find and break the red crystal that leads them both back outside.
- Three-Way Sex: Some H-scenes will have Erina engaging in this with two other guys.
- Video Game Cruelty Potential: The player can choose to either play Erina like a Celibate Hero... Or go out of their way to make her have sex with as many men (or even some monsters) as they want.
- Zeroth Law Rebellion: Legato turns out to be a Magic Doll disguising as a human, having been built long ago to help the elf Sheila continue working on her ongoing projects in the Magic Guild, as well as preserve records of her existance, up to and including the treasure which turns out to be the old case he had stolen from Erina's workshop in the Miners Guild.
