Another Tabletop RPG created by FEAR (of Tenra Bansho ZERO fame). The default setting is contemporary Japan, but other various settings are available for play. Player characters are called Overed and possess superhuman powers brought from a virus called Renegade. The game is now available in english via Amazon and in PDF format via Drivethru RPG.
The game provides examples of:
- "Avoid This Area" Effect: The Warding power is a variant of this, as it incapacitates all nearby non-Overeds.
- Body Horror: The Renegade virus can sometime cause this and this is basically the whole point behind the Exile Breed and their powers.
- The Corruption: Renegade.
- Evil Is Easy: Enemy Powers, which either give massive buffs and/or incredibly powerful abilities to bosses and other power enemies, or give Mooks abilities reserved for more important characters.
- A Form You Are Comfortable With: All Renegade Being PCs have the ability to disguise themselves as human.
- Grey-and-Grey Morality: The UGN in it's current state and False Hearts.
- Healing Factor: Every Overed has the Resurrection power, which enables them to recover from incapacitating injuries. Some other powers are also related to regaining Hit Points.
- Let's Play: DurpSA has one currently going on. The sessions aren't exactly serious by any means, but, they're entertaining in their own way.
- The Masquerade: Thanks to the UGN's effort, the majority of the mankind is unaware of the Renegade superpowers, the struggles between Overeds and Gjaums, or the fact that they have already been infected.
- The Men in Black: The Universal Guardian Network, or UGN for short.
- Nebulous Evil Organisation: False Hearts. Less nebulous if one takes into account the fluff present in their splatbook.
- Only the Chosen May Wield: The Renegade Crystals, which enhances the Overed's power greatly, but also causes severe physical and mental pain.
- Order Versus Chaos: The UGN fights to contain the Renegade power and keep order, while False Hearts encourages overeds to use their power as they desire. The UGN also has a more orderly top-down power structure, whereas False Hearts consists of loosely connected cells and allow them a large degree of freedom.
- Our Vampires Are Different: The Bram Stoker syndrom, which allows overeds to turn blood into weapons, create and control Servants, revive themselves, or revive others with their blood.
- Person of Mass Destruction: What some Gjaums are capable of, to the point of being able to destroy planets. Fortunately they are too insane to wield such immense power effectively.
- Reality Warper: What some Gjaums are capable of. However they don't have the sanity to use their power effectively.
- Splat:
- Angel Halo: Powers of controlling light, including beams of light/lasers. Often grants Super-Senses.
- Balor: Create an object called an Eye of Darkness, which you use to control or manipulate gravity, or simply suck things/people into black hole-like voids. Some of them can also manipulate time.
- Black Dog: Control of lightning and electricity. Also include cybernetics.
- Bram Stoker:Blood-related effects; healing, or things like "Cut yourself, then the blood turns into a solid sword you can use to attack foes". Or create servants from blood and control them.
- Chimaera: Change your body into beast-like forms: Wings, claws, scales, senses etc.
- Exile: Manipulate your body through elongation, twisting, etc; can turn limbs, hair, etc into sharpened weapons.
- Hanuman: Powers of speed and sonic abilities.
- Morpheus: Transforming one thing into another; creating guns from umbrellas, etc. Also, control over sand and limited psychometry.
- Neumann: Extremely intelligent computer-like brains, which often enhances their combat skills too.
- Orcus: They draw a circle on the ground, and can control anything that happens in that circle: Control the earth, make attacks or increase defense, summon creatures, etc
- Salamandra: Control heat, both as fire and ice using it for attacks and defense.
- Solaris: Control pheromones and toxins, use them to heal people, empower teammates or cause enemies to see illusions/phantasms.
- Ouroboros: Can copy other Overed's Renegade powers and use their shadows to attack
- Traumatic Superpower Awakening: Player characters are given backstories about their Awakening, many of which involve emotional trauma.
- Tyke-Bomb: The UGN children.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: The Renegade virus, which gives Overeds superpowers while constantly putting them at risk of losing their mind. In terms of gameplay, having a high Encroachment rate (representing virus activation) boosts the character's power levels and dice pool size, but also makes it harder to survive the final Backtrack without turning into a Gjaum.
