The Discussion pages are unfortunately buggy, hence why I had not recommended this one. Try bringing up the issue into Ask The Tropers or into the Is This An Example forum thread. You can also ask in the Fire Emblem thread in the forums.
Links and punctuation will be messed up here.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300If you truly feel the actual ONO is Crimson Flower, then you'll have to get rid of the one currently described in the article, and replace it with the example you propose. We cannot have two examples with one of them saying "but that one isn't the real ONO, it's THIS one". It's either one or the other.
And make sure to leave a link to this discussion query in the edit reason. That way, everybody will know that the change was brought up here.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300It is the ONO as it's the only one to be actually appropriate to the theme naming.
In Japanese traditional art, some motifs are associated with colors:
Wind-Summer-Green (Byleth/Sothis/Rhea/Seteth/Flayn)
Flowers-Spring-Red (Edelgard)
Snow-Winter-Blue (Dimitri)
Moon-Fall-Gold (Claude)
But Dimitri has "Moon", Claude has "Wind" and Byleth/Rhea/Sothis have "Snow". And only Edelgard's route fits the criteria, so hers is the ONO.
Edited by ShinMinaseIn that case, eliminate the less appropiate example and put/leave the more appropiate one (Crimson Flower), explaining what makes it an ONO.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300The examples and the description clash here. Are the examples supposed to only be ones where the "odd name out" turns out to be the important one? Or are we just listing every "set plus odd" naming anywhere?
A brighter future for a darker age. Hide / Show RepliesI agree, because I can find a very subtle example. I sometimes see Irvine Kinneas of Final Fantasy VIII as a bit of an outcast or somewhat not quite like them for some reason. Then I realized that not only the first letter in his first name is in the left half of the alphabet (A-M), it's also the only one that's a vowel.
TV Tropes Pantheon Group Members DatabaseWhat about TBBT season 4, episode 3, "The Zazzy Substitution". All cats named Oppenheimer, Fermi, Feynman, Teller, Frisch (Manhattan Projekt) and Zazzles. Ba dum tss!
Technically, the Odd Name Out is Crimson Flower, for being the only one that fits the theme naming: the route names come from motifs in Japanese traditional art that represent seasons and colors. The Wind is associated with summer and green (Byleth), the Flowers are associated with spring and red (Edelgard), the Snow is associated with winter and blue (Dimitri) and the Moon is associated with autumn and gold (Claude), but Dmitri's route is "Moon", Claude's route is "Wind" and Byleth's route AKA the Church route is "Snow", leaving only Edelgard to have the route of her color.
Sorry for the Natter. I'm new here.
