Jeffy's Endless Aethos!
is a Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod based on the SuperMarioLogan series, but more focused on the fan-made shitpost site SMLWiki.com. In this mod, Jeffy drinks an 8-Ball of coke...and, uh, let's just say strange things happen.
The mod was slated for release on April 1st, 2024 before delays moved it to April 3rd of the same year.
Examples include:
- Adaptational Abomination: Does Bad Thing Guy, or in this case, Does Evil Things Guy gets a dosage of this. He was regular looking in canon, psychopathic tendencies aside, but in here he's taller, has two knives sticking out of his back, a Nightmare Face and his right arms been replaced with a saw.
- Adaptational Villainy: Jeffy was surprisingly the key to getting the good ending of SML Wiki. Jerry, on the other hand, is much more malignant.
- Art Shift: The song's visuals go through four different phases of quality: the first section has somewhat sloppy sprites with solid colors and background assets ripped right from SMLWiki, the second becomes more standard for FNF with better art, proper shading, and an original background, the turn right after Jerry's lyrical section has very smooth lineart at a first-person perspective, and the final breakdown features beautifully-done stylized sprites and a unique visual effect for Jerry's notes.
- Bathos: The mod was clearly made as a joke, with the Stylistic Suck of the first section's visuals, the poorly-made chromatics used, and a handful of Mood Whiplash moments to remind you that this is based on SuperMarioLogan of all things. Despite this, the song is very high-quality with a dramatic tone and the visuals beyond the first part are made much more seriously.
- Deceptively Silly Title: You would'nt expect the song about the infamous SML episode "The Secret Door!", featuring a lot of desecrated bodies and the reveal Brooklyn Guy had a mentally insane necrophilic twin brother fill in for him all this time to be called "Shucks".
- Disproportionate Retribution: According to Jerry's monologue before the breakdown, the main reason he's attacking Marvin post-ascension is because Marvin fed him green beans, which he hates.
- Ethereal Choir: "Aethos" begins with the deepened audio of a choir singing "Amazing Grace", which remains a part of the instrumental throughout the song.
- Mood Whiplash:
- The start of "Aethos" isn't as creepy as the rest of the mod. Jerry and Marvin have hilariously underdone sprites, the background is ripped straight from the wiki, and there's a little Logan dancing in the foreground. But then you get to the middle mark of the song...
- The first three lines of Jerry's lyrical section are much more serious than the last, where he references the Running Gag of Jeffy slapping his diaper.
- Right after the very dramatic final notes, the song ends the same way any SML movie does - slapping a bright end card onscreen asking a question related to the video (in this case, "What would you do if you had an 8-ball of Coke?") with light-hearted stock music in the background.
- Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Jerry delivers one right before the end point of "Aethos":Here comes the fucking breakdown.
- Singing Voice Dissonance: Thanks in part to the crappy chromatics used, neither character's singing sounds at all like their speaking voices. Averted when it comes to the lyrical section, which sounds much closer to the person who voices Jerry's other unique lines.
- Stylistic Suck: Jerry and Marvin's sprites (at first) are purposefully poorly done, and they use the chromatics from fellow SML mod VS Jeffy, chosen intentionally because of their poor quality. Justified as this mod was supposed to come out on April Fools' Day, but was released 2 days later due to delays.
