- Creator Breakdown: All of Matthew's Wii's data was lost when the system died in late 2009. He was so upset he made a comic that depicts the end of the world◊.
- Creator's Favorite: King Dedede, due to his snarkier personality and array of facial expressions, mentioned in Volume 1 of the printed comics.
- Defictionalization: The Dededoll plush was available for purchase on the store.
- Dummied Out: Before the move to Keenspot, http://www.brawlinthefamily.com/media/ revealed some hidden files.
- Meaningful Release Date: The final strip was released on October 3, 2014, the same day Super Smash Bros. for 3DS was released outside Japan. Also counts as a Milestone Celebration, as the final strip was the 600th one.
- Milestone Celebration:
- Every 100th comic has been bigger than previous works (although #100 doesn't look quite as ambitious in hindsight). #200, #300, #400, #500, and #600 were Musical Episodes. #400 in particular was a huge celebration of the entire Nintendo history, #500 a celebration of Mega Man history and inclusion in Super Smash Brothers, and #600 concludes the strip with a look back on its history, defining moments, and previous songs.
- The 50th Comics also get smaller celebrations. There's #50 "Gooey Kablooie", #150 "Comic Strip", a tribute to various comic strips, #250 "Cartoons", another tribute to various cartoons, and #350 "If it Takes A Lifetime".
- Promoted Fanboy: Matthew Taranto's got it big: his little Nintendo-centered webcomic landed him a position at Nintendo Force Magazine, the spiritual successor to Nintendo Power, where he continues to make comics for to this day. Heck, Nintendo even issued him a dev kit so he could port his game to the Wii U and later on, the Nintendo Switch! He's even collaborated with HOWARD PHILLIPS, the original gamemaster, on a couple occasions, for heck's sake!
- Refitted for Sequel: A couple of unused Wario comics, originally intended for an April Fools' Day based on Wario instead of Waluigi, were incorporated in the Too Bad. Waluigi Time book.
- Schedule Slip: Due to health problems, the 400th comic was delayed for two months, before being released on April 12th, 2012.
- Similarly Named Works: Shares the name with episodes of The Simpsons, The Loud House and RWBY.
- What Could Have Been:
- In "Turnabout Kirby", The Masked Man as Godot and Ness as Cody Hackins were also considered for members of the Jury Box.
- "Where's Waluigi" was almost the 200th strip.
- "Cartoons" was originally going to end with the panel where Adeleine pitches a show based on Futurama, while King Dedede tells her a show just based on him, Meta Knight, and Kirby could work. Then Matthew's brother reminded him that such a show already exists, resulting in two more panels to make a new punchline referencing that show.
- In "Cloud Watching", Luigi was considered to be the one who got a Spiny to the face.
- The initial ending for "Jigglypuff & Kirby" was much more cynical in tone: After deleting Attract, there would be a cut to Kirby telling Jigglypuff that he wants to break up with her.
