"Aliver" is a competition reality show to find the world's greatest superhero. The girls are contestants, but so is Princess Morbucks, who hedges her bets during the competition.
This episode contains examples of:
- Call-Back: Buttercup's fear of spiders, first noted in original series episode "Power-noia," resurfaces.
- Cheaters Never Prosper: Princess cheats in order to win the competition, but the girls are able to get her to admit to this. Once it becomes known that Princess cheated to win, she's ultimately disqualified.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Jarhead is a Marine with a jar for a head.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Princess wins, but then she sees the other competitors crying. The Powerpuff Girls are apparently dead from the last contest which prompts Princess to tearfully admit that she cheated but never intended for this to happen to the girls. Then they wake up.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Princess admits she ended up in the competition because her father owns the network which broadcasts the show.
- Shout-Out: Definitely referring to CBS's Survivor series. The "promos" for "Monkey Matrimony" (with Mojo Jojo) takes a swipe at The Bachelor.
