A sorcerer lacking in both talent and pedigree died in a duel, and was later reincarnated as the 7th Prince of his kingdom, Saloum, as Lloyd. With noble blood and talent, and all the time in the world as the furthest from the line of inheritance, Lloyd can learn and master whatever magic he pleases.
An anime adaptation was released by Tsumugi Akita Animation Lab in April 2024.

- Five-Second Foreshadowing:
- Sylpha, a Master Swordswoman, says it's been a while since the last time she has been at the Adventure Guild. Followed by an exposition about a retired A-ranked Silver Blader. Who is shortly revealed to be herself.
- The Mysterious Priest is a shapeshifter hiding amongst the Pope's 11 High Priests, plus him included. Right when the investigation begins, Anastasia whispers that heroes wouldn't expect "the worst" and Pope Gitane reveals his true identity right away.
- Admiring the Abomination: Lloyd, in his previous life, is both struck down and talked down by another sorcerer in class and power. Instead of swearing revenge, he wishes to be reborn as a noble himself just to experience such power. While reincarnated as seventh in line for the Saloum throne, he takes advantage of this so he can study on magic with his already high prowess.
- Adventure Guild: The kingdom has a classical Adventurer's Guild, with the quest board and the receptionist.
- The Archmage: William Bolt is a legendary ancient progenitor of modern magic, and Lloyd is sometimes compared to him.
- Bait-and-Switch: Lloyd is concerned if Sylpha can be fooled by the Body Double, considering she scarily knows a lot about him. Sylpha gets so bothered by "Lloyd" suddenly becoming weak, she spends the entire day giving the imposter combat lessons.
- Beehive Barrier: Magical barriers are presented as spheres with hexagonal patterns.
- Body-Count Competition: In Chapter 52, Tao and Sylpha starts a competition, with whoever kills the most ghouls get a date with Lloyd, and Ren also joins in. This is forgotten when Civil War proves to be too much of a challenge.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: The bonus chapters involve characters directly interacting with the manga's publication.
- Broken Pedestal: All High Priests except Anastasia are deeply disappointed that Gitane has succumbed to his darkness despite teaching everyone how to avoid it.
- Cloth Fu: Lloyd combines Sylpha's and Babylon's skills to turn ribbons into swords.
- Crystal Dragon Jesus: The local religion is pretty much a copy of Catholicism, except for Holy Magic and that there are allegedly 64 holy gods.
- Cue the Sun: Right after Guisarme is defeated, the sun rises.
- Cuteness Proximity: Sylpha and the other maids adore the underaged Lloyd a bit too much. Lloyd, however, cares more about mastering magic than them all put together.
- Darkest Hour: In Chapter 31 it seems that Lloyd has been killed, and the Assassin's Guild attempt to Taking You with Me to kill as many Majin as possible. Only for Lloyd to pull a Ninja Log and The Cavalry from Saloum takes care of the Majin.
- Defeat Means Friendship: Lloyd beats Grimoire into a pulp, which turns him into his greatest ally. Other demons like Pazuzu and Guisarme are instead Killed Off for Real.
- Demonic Possession:
- Majin are capable of taking over when they are in proximity to a human. Grim attempts it on Lloyd, but Lloyd's absurdly dense magical power makes it impossible.
- Guisarme steals Jade's body and Guisarme's allies take over the entire city of Lodost, which is how they learn rare techniques instead of practicing them. They later attempt it on the Asssassin's Guild, but are thwarted.
- Entertainingly Wrong:
- Lloyd asks the king a bag of silver coins as an allowance, with the king being pleased that humble Lloyd doesn't ask for gold. Lloyd only needed silver as a fuel material.
- Despite Lloyd leaving a notice where he went, Sylpha and Albert assume the Assassin's Guild has kidnapped him and have done unimaginable things to him, quickly building a small army to rescue him. Which is convenient, because Lodost is infested with minor Majin and Lloyd can't get distracted by small fry.
- Fanservice: The female cast semi-regularly gets into Male Gaze shots, for example during a Public Bathhouse Scene or Clothing Damage.
- Fluffy Cloud Heaven: When Ersha recites a hymn, Lloyd can sense someone's influence and teleports towards it, which brings him to a palace on top of the clouds in Another Dimension.
- Forbidden Chekhov's Gun: In the first chapter, Lloyd is told that bad boys get eaten by a demonic Grimoire, and that he shouldn't go to castle's underground. Which is where he goes right away.
- Foreshadowing: Lloyd notices bounty posters for the Asssassin's Guild, who appear soon later.
- Gender Bender: Shakura was a male martial arts master, who possesses a female chimera body.
- Genius Loci: The dungeons turn out to be really large monsters that host other monsters inside, and the treasure chest is effectively the heart.
- Good Costume Switch: The appearance of bearwolves directly ties to who is controlling them. When Lloyd breaks Pazuzu's miasma, they all turn from monstrous wolves into fluffy dogs, which is their true state.
- The Guards Must Be Crazy: The doorless hall to where Grimoire is sealed is guarded by just two patrol men who are very confident nobody can pass them, as Lloyd does just that with Invisibility. Though they are sure the seal is more than sufficient, which Lloyd breaks without it even being shown.
- Holy Burns Evil: The way Holy Magic works is removing "negative factors" like injuries, malice or Black Magic, which makes it very effective against monsters and the undead. It however doesn't work on criminals and Majin who see nothing wrong in their actions.
- Hot Springs Episode: In Chapter 41 the aftermath of Lloyd's battle mixes up a river with magma, which the girls take as an opportunity to turn into a hot spring attraction.
- Humanoid Abomination: Played for Laughs as much as it is Played Straight, but the absurd size and density of Lloyd's magical power, which takes shame of a colossal fractal skull, makes Grimoire view him as some sort of monster. Guisarme later see him the same way, realizing how outclassed he is.
- Hypocritical Humor: Ren questions if Lloyd is a natural exhibitionist to not be bothered fighting butt-naked. Galilea points out that she has no room to talk.
- Improvised Weapon: Having her sword confiscated, Sylpha fights Anastasia with a candle stick.
- Interrupted Suicide: When Guisarme tortured Jade from inside to probe him on other Noroware, he chose to get killed, but Guisarme would prevent all methods of suicide while slowly taking over his memories.
- Male Gaze: Tao, Sylphia, Ren, and even Lloyd are all subject to being draw and portrayed this way. Especially notable for Tao, whose introduction shows off her shapely ass.
- Magic Enhancement: Magic spells can be infused into weapons by writing their Magical Incantation with a special ink. Lloyd figures there's technically no limit to how many of them can one sword have if written extremely densely, though steel swords break from overload.
- Mood Whiplash: Chapter 74 interrupts the climax of the Church arc with Babylon hosting a cooking show to convince a mutated pig that he's tasty, while priests make fun of the manga's use of Splash of Color, followed by a Christmas Episode where a Santa Claus from another world pacifies a horde of ghouls with copies of this manga. Then it returns to normal.
- My Country, Right or Wrong: Despite Albert being a A Father to His Men, his guards treat anything he says as an order because he's a royal, whenever they agree with him or not.
- New Life in Another World Bonus: Lloyd in his past life had a pathetic magic capabilities, but wanted nothing but to learn more magic. Being reborn, his abilities of magic even as a child exceed country's best mages. Subverted in that Lloyd is reborn in the same country he has died in.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Majin are known to be functionally immortal because of their Healing Factor and them being Resistant to Magic. Lloyd figures they just have a very large lifeforce, and tortures Pazuzu for several minutes straight until he finally breaks apart. Stronger Majins take even someone like Lloyd some significant effort to be defeated.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Once Lloyd reverse-engineers Guisarme's attacks, figuring he has no other interesting skills to show under his arsenal, grinds him into a pulp with his fists.
- One Cast Member per Cover: The manga features a different character on each volume cover.
- Our Liches Are Different: The lich is a cloaked skeleton with a tail, who throws giant blades at his opponents.
- Power Levels: Established specifically with Majin, who rank from 1 (highest) to 10 (lowest). Pazuru is rank 8, and Grim is rank 3. There is, however, a rank higher than Rank 1. Demon, a class higher than Majin. Even a hundred-strong army of 100 Rank 1 Majins can't fight a single Demon.
- Pretext for War: While Lodost are warmongers, they didn't actively seek war at the time. Then Majins have possessed all of them and have started to spread rumors across the country, hoping to drag the Assassin's Guild and the kingdom of Saloum into a manufactured conflict so they can steal their powers.
- Public Bathhouse Scene: In the first episode, a lot of maids plus Lloyd take a bath at the bathing hall.
- Quirky Miniboss Squad: When the anti-Church cult attacks, A-rank chimeras and their conspirator are introduced one by one and are given Boss Subtitles.
- Red Herring: Dante looks very similar to the Mysterious Priest. Not only the villain is someone else, Dante is not a conspirator as also suspected, and has a similar hair due to the past admiration of the person.
- Rewatch Bonus: In early chapters Albert asks Lloyd with minor requests, which when viewed together appear to be preparations for a war, which later turns out a disinformation spread by Guisarme's minions as a bait.
- Ritual Magic: Contrasting Magical Incantation, there's a form of invokation called Ceremony that actives Holy Magic with a musical performance. A contract with Julliel lets Lloyd cast Holy spells without a ritual. Those who are blessed can in turn share it with others.
- R-Rated Opening: Lloyd's previous life is shown dying in a duel, both in the start of the manga and anime.
- Secret Identity: Lloyd uses his Sexier Alter Ego Robert to keep his dungeon-crawling a secret, and later hypes him up as an adventurer who keeps saving him from Majins.
- Self-Parody: Flawless Meal in his introduction says "I was reincarnated as an Edible Orc so I will Eradicate the Human Race as I please", a take on the novel's title. Babylon replies with "When I changed Jobs, I literally got into a Big Trouble as the Guild was really broke".
- Shout-Out:
- Lloyd, Shiro, Grimoire and Julliel get stereotypical Sherlock Holmes costumes when investigating the Church.
- Tao's fight with Shakura is narrated in a way that parodies 5 Centimeters per Second.
- Smoke Out: When Lloyd accidentally creates a cloud of steam, he notices Guisarme can't attack an opponent he can't see.
- Sneeze Cut: When discussing if Lloyd has been kidnapped, he, who wasn't kidnapped, suddenly sneezes.
- Spare to the Throne: All royal siblings are treated as potential heirs, and they all try to make themselves useful to the nation. Initially, Lloyd was considered so far behind, nobody has thought of him as a competition, but his talent at Magic Enhancement made Albert propose him as a candidate. Lloyd openly refuses because he's not interested in politics.
- Speak in Unison: Lloyd and Guisarme get excited and ask each other to provide some fun at the same time.
- Splash of Color: The manga adaptation uses colored frames for key moments.
- Spoiler Opening: The ED in the anime bluntly shows Ren as Lloyd's friend, despite her intimidating initial appearance.
- Sufficiently Analyzed Magic: Magic is commonplace and physical applications of different forms (Spellcasting, Ki, Enchantment, Taming, etc) are fairly well understood. Lloyd, however, gives each of them a strictly analytical approach, and realizing there's no theoretical limit how dense each of them can get, exponentially increases the amount and types of spells he can cast per minute.
- Underestimating Badassery: Some adventurers seeing Sylpha and Lloyd registering at the Adventure Guild, rudely suggest hiring themselves as bodyguards, soon learning that they are way stronger than anyone present.
- The Unpronounceable: According to Lloyd, magic spells take effect when they are considered pronounced in any way. So he derives a spell that casts other spells, all of them, at almost the same time. This is represented by a solid square where the Magical Incantation should be, with the anime using Voice of the Legion, and when Grimoire hears it for the first time he officially throws a towel trying to understand who Lloyd is. And later Lloyd stacks those together as well.
- You Mean "Xmas": The Holy Birthday occurs about at the end of the year and is compared to Christmas in a bonus chapter.
- Wardrobe Malfunction: When fighting the Assassin's Guild, Lloyd loses his pants while escaping Galilea. They aren't really bothered by him not paying attention to being butt-naked, but treat it as another reason to find him creepy.
- Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: Some of Lloyd's achievements shock even armored soldiers and horses, whose eyes appear as completely white circles.
- The Worf Effect: Most of Lloyd's opponents are hyped up to be extremely dangerous, only for Lloyd to show how weak they are by comparison.
