Alien Invasion Tomato Monster Mexican Armada Brothers who are Just Regular Brothers Running in a Van From an Asteroid and All Sorts of Things: The Movie (often referred to as Two Brothers) is a film from another reality.note It is an over-the-top action flick following the adventures of two brothers struggling against all sorts of obstacles. It notably has a more random plot than movies from our reality, with an almost improvisational tone to it.note
The film spawned the sequel Three Brothersnote .
Not to Be Confused with a video game or a film about two tiger cubs from this reality. Or with a fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm, also from this reality.
Tropes are coming! And they are also in this movie!
- Alien Invasion: It's there in the title. The aliens in question are presumably the Mexican Armada, who arrive in spaceships shaped like sombreros.
- Amazon Brigade: An elderly amazon brigade, no less!
- Apocalypse Wow: An apocalypse including an asteroid and all sorts of things. Culminating in the Moon hitting Earth.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Giant cat monsters are among the threats.
- Bash Brothers: The two brothers fight the various threats side-by-side. Bonus points for being actual brothers. If the narrator is to be believed, they share a strong bond. But you don't want to hear about it here.
- Cats Are Mean: Especially if they are giant cat monsters.
- Colony Drop: First a meteor hits Earth. Then the Moon also comes crashing into Earth.
- Cool Car: The two brothers have a cool van.
- Cool Shades: Both brothers wear sunglasses.
- Disaster Movie: An asteroid collision kick-starts the plot, followed by various other disasters.
- Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud: A giant tornado also gets in the way of the brothers.
- Edible Ammunition: The Mexican Armada wield weapons "made from two tomatoes", with tomato bullets.
- Face Palm: One of the brothers gives this reaction to the Moon crashing into Earth.
- From Bad to Worse: As soon as the brothers seem to defeat one threat, an even worse (and more bizarre) threat shows up.
- Human Aliens: The Mexican Armada come from outer space, but look like Latino men in stereotypical Mexican outfits.
- Improv: In the reality where this film comes from, television has an almost improvisational tone to it.
- Immediate Self-Contradiction: The movie is simultaneously in theaters now and coming this summer.
- Knuckle Cracking: The bigger, bald brother does this before getting into a fight.
- Mega Neko: The giant cat monsters.
- Never Mess with Granny: Old women are coming, and they also get in a fight with the brothers.
- Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Giant cat monsters, a Mexican Armada that are also aliens, and elderly female warriors.
- Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: The narrator announces the long title of the movie with putting emphasis on every single word.
- Random Events Plot: The various threats the brothers encounter have little to do with each other.
- Rule of Cool: The movie runs on this, with each obstacle the brothers fight topping the previous one.
- Serial Escalation: The action starts with a meteor hitting Earth. What follows is giant cat monsters, a tornado, a Mexican Armada (who are apparently also aliens), old women, and the Moon crashing into Earth.
- South of the Border: The Mexican Armada are walking stereotypes, who arrive in spaceships shaped like sombreros.
- Title: The Adaptation: The full title ends with "The Movie", but it is unknown whether it was adapted from any other material.
- Trailers Always Spoil: The trailer gives away that the Moon crashes into Earth.
- Vanity License Plate: The license plate of the two brothers' van reads "II BROS".
