Luz Commits Tax Fraud is a comedic The Owl House Crack Fic written by Cornonjacob. The story takes place directly after the first season of the show and is about Luz providing financially for her adoptive family.
This work contains examples of:
- Acquired Poison Immunity: The narration claims that Luz is completely immune to poison because she visited Chicago in the past.
- Acquired Situational Narcissism: Downplayed, Luz after successfully revamping Eda's stand.
- Bait-and-Switch: The narration occasionally does this.
- Luz does a variant of the "You know who else is beautiful?" joke to Amity at the end of chapter one, also Breaking the Fourth Wall.
- Bratty Food Demand: Luz does this when ordering food for herself and Amity on their date, speaking with Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness in a bid to impress her.
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: In chapter two, the narration makes note of some of the expenses of the Owl House residents after Luz becomes wealthy. After listing necessities and normal purchases, it mentions that King bought a blow-up doll.
- Butt-Monkey:
- Lilith is not treated kindly by the narrator any of the other characters.
- Hooty suffers some painful misfortune every time he is mentioned.
- Canon Character All Along: The waiter is abruptly revealed to have been Mattholomule the whole time — despite no prior indication that this was the case — simply because the author got tired of referring to the waiter by his title.
- Cool and Unusual Punishment: Odalia is sentenced to work in a glue factory for tax evasion, though she hates it so much she may as well have been in prison.
- Crack Fic: Aside from the swearing and other family unfriendly content, the characters are out-of-character to various levels and the author even makes several obvious in-jokes.
- Creepy Twins: Edric and Emira are portrayed as being these, especially in chapter three in which they are implied to both be a Humanoid Abomination.
- Cringe Comedy: Luz and Amity's disastrous first date, during which Luz commits several social faux pas trying to impress Amity.
- Department of Redundancy Department: The narration describes Bonesborough Library to be in Bonesborough.
- DreamWorks Face: Invoked by Emira and Edric who wear "their matching signature Dreamworks Smirks" whilst clipping through each other.
- Drunk on Milk: Luz briefly after trying to order alcohol and instead being served apple juice.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin
- Flower Mouth: Edric's mouth is described as opening like a flower in bloom as he prepares to unleash his reality-breaking scream.
- Freudian Slip: Amity multiple times after speaking with Luz in chapter one. The narration mocks her for it.
- Humanoid Abomination: Edric and Emira are able to freely regenerate, pass through solid matter, warp reality, and use Haki. In chapter three, Edric evaporates and "precipitates elsewhere" and Emira is mentioned to have ichor running through her veins.
- Hyperspace Arsenal: One of the IRS agents pulls a gun out of thin air.
- I Ate WHAT?!: Luz urinates in Lilith's drinks while she isn't looking in chapter one and two. Lilith is enraged when she finds out.
- I Resemble That Remark!: Luz mocks Lilith in ways that could also describe Amity similarly to how Patrick mocks DoodleBob before Amity clears her throat.
- Lame Pun Reaction: Eda has one after Luz tells her she knows how to make some "Luz change".
- Lemony Narrator: The fic is narrated in a sardonic and overly eccentric fashion with constant asides and in-jokes.
- Insecure Love Interest: Luz, who feels that she isn't high class enough for Amity.
- Intimidating Revenue Service: The IRS agents who pursue Luz even have unexplained psychic powers.
- Literal Metaphor:
- The narration notes that Edric bites the bullet for Amity before revealing he literally did so.
- Later, the narration states that Odalia was "sent to the glue factory" before it is made clear she was literally made to work at a glue factory.
- Love Makes You Dumb: Luz is hit with this combined with Acquired Situational Narcissism.
- Mythology Gag: Amity's domain expansion is named "Self-Embodiment of Little Miss Perfect", referencing the famous "Little Miss Perfect" animatic.
- Oblivious to Love: As in the show, Luz does not catch on to Amity's obvious crush on her.
- Poverty Food: The story opens with an impoverished Luz, Eda, Lilith, and King eating lunch consisting of things such as croutons, uncooked cup ramen, and in King's case, his own feces. All of it is Played for Laughs.
- Produce Pelting: Eda tries to cheer Luz up by encouraging her to throw a moldy tomato at Lilith.
- Purple Prose: When Amity describes Luz's outfit during their date and when they first kiss.
- Punny Name: The two IRS agents are named Fred Eral and Banks Jeemann.
- Rage Breaking Point: Amity drags Luz out of the restaurant and lays into her for how she acted on their date.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Amity, of all people, gives Luz one for her behaviour on their date.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: Parodied, the narration goes into great detail to describe how Amity sees Luz's outfit for their date and how beautiful she thinks she is. The narration quickly reveals Luz is wearing an ahegao hoodie.
- Shout-Out:
- Several to Jojos Bizarre Adventure. Luz mostly plagiarizes a monologue Dio gives to Polnareff to convince Eda to let her run her stand. The fic includes edited panels from the manga that show Luz urinating into Lilith's tea while Eda and King watch in the same way that Abbacchio does to Giorno, as well as a comic of Luz and Amity recreating the famous "Jotaro and DIO walking" meme. Amity's Abomination is referred to as her Stand at one point, and epilogue teases a sequel titled Stardust Crusaders.
- When Lilith tries to reprimand Luz, she responds with "Don't touch me, motherfucker."
- One of the items King buys with Luz's money is a figurine of Loona.
- It's mentioned that even invoking the Honor of Grayskull wouldn't be able to save the protagonists.
- Amity makes a facial expression in chapter 2 modeled after one Tails makes in Tails Gets Trolled.
- Fred Eral and Banks Jeemann are references to Mr. Black and Mr. White
- Edric and Emira backwards long jump in order to escape from detention.
- The narration mentions that Edric and Emira were digging an escape tunnel out of the detention room which they've covered with a poster of Raquel Welch.
- Emira conjures up a ring of dirt cubes to detain Luz. The dirt is mentioned to be two cubes in height and capable of detaining zombies.
- While bullying Luz, Boscha calls Luz "Dusty Old Bones, Full of Green Dust".
- While injured, Luz tells Amity that she has beautiful eyes, to which she responds that "She's lost her mind!"
- Edric and Emira use Busoshoku Haki.
- One of Fred Eral's eyes is described as glowing like Sans.
- Amity uses domain expansion against her father.
- Skewed Priorities: The IRS is much more concerned about collecting taxes from Luz than they are about the existence of the Boiling Isles.
- Super-Scream: Edric summons Amity by screaming so loudly that it shreds his lungs and teleports his sister.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: King excitedly tells Luz he bought a figurine of Loona. He then states that he also bought a mason jar that he is "definitely using for non-figurine related things".
- Too Many Halves: The story has three chapters. The third chapter is named "The Third Half".
- Word, Schmord!: At the beginning, King loudly demands better food as a self-proclaimed "ruler," only for Eda to dismiss him with "Ruler schmuler."
- You Will Not Evade Me: Amity uses domain expansion to prevent her father from escaping the IRS.
