Characters for Game Grumps/Steam Train/Table Flip
Team Grump | Made-Up Characters | Others
JonTron Era (July 18, 2012 - June 25, 2013)
- Nearly Normal Animal: She does vaguely human things such as watch a lot of Intervention, but she still mostly displays the qualities of a goose.
Appearing in their Jeopardy series, Fuckin' Larry proved to be a worthy foe for the Grumps, showing them up multiple times. Unfortunately, his difficulty in spelling 'South America' almost led to his downfall.
- Ditzy Genius: He knows a lot of trivia and can remember it near-instantly, but if he doesn't know the answer he will still buzz in anyway and just spout gibberish.
- Apparently he does know the answer (note how the gibberish in the quote has letters from South America,) but since he apparently wasn't programmed to give actual wrong answers, most of the letters are just replaced with random characters.
- Odd Name Out: The players in Jeopardy are Nixon, Dixon and... Larry.
- The One Guy: Nixon and Dixon are girls, by the way.
- The Bus Came Back: Mentioned on-the-spot in Part 5 of Super Mario Bros., and apparently will go to a senior prom with Arin the next day.
Gloop the Fish, appearing in Banjo-Kazooie, is a depressed teenager whose farts can get you high. His friends exploit this, and are only his friends because of this, always trying to get him to come to parties just so he can fart for them. His cousin is Beesenbatz.
- Ascended Extra: Plays a very insignificant part in the actual game, but the grumps give him a time to shine.
- The Eeyore: Constantly depressed, but only his Twitter followers seem to genuinely empathize with him.
- Fantastic Drug: His farts.
- Inherently Funny Words: The Grumps lampshade the fact that the main reason the Gloop jokes are funny is because Gloop is such a funny name.
Moundo, a mini boss in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, is not a rock. He is a grouchy mound who can't deny that he has a weight problem yet can't work out... since he's not human. If he were to be chiseled, it would hurt. The other rocks make fun of him because his mother was bad at naming.
- Expy: His personality was based off of Biggoldick, a character Arin made up at some point.
- Sweet Tooth: Apparently likes a kind of rock-filled ice cream (called Rocky Road, of course). He justifies it by claiming to have 'reverse diabetes' (or 'Rockabites').
Donkey Kong is... Well, you should know who he is. But Jon and Arin discuss a very different DK to the one you may be familiar with.
- Abusive Parents: He doesn't want his son, and doesn't really care at all when finding that he's dead.
- Artificial Stupidity: Invoked in the Mario Party games.
- Berserk Button: Being asked: "Orange you glad I didn't say banana?"
- Bumbling Sidekick: In 2x2 mini-games to whoever he's paired with.
- Butt-Monkey: As befitting a literal monkey.
- The Don: ...key Kong, mentioned in a Mario Party 8 video.
- Expy: He's essentially the equivalent to The Runaway Guys' Wario.
- Failed a Spot Check: Like Banjo, he occasionally forgets that he can't breathe underwater.
- The Load: To whoever he happens to be partners with in the Mario Party games.
- Too Dumb to Fool: According to the Grumps, DK is too stupid to be affected by hypnosis.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Tries to order a burger from Ego while he's calling for advice.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Arin calls him "My psychiatrist" and he wants to be called by his name, Bill.
- Funny Foreigner: Speaks with an Indian accent, which turns into a Jamaican one. He's foreign, at any rate.
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: His Indian accent turns into a Jamaican one by the end.
The main protagonists in the Grump's playthrough of Drakken. Brian-Frank-Steve-Willard-Johnathan-Mike The IV-Mike The III-Michael Jordan-Scott, Bill, Langley, and Big Bill (Bigger Bill) are on a journey to find a 7-11 and beat up random monsters.
- Ambiguous Gender: Bill.
- Badass Boast: Defeated is the monster! I've done my part, I've saved the kindgom!
- Hidden Depths: Brian likes to twinkletoe while the others are not watching, though the others are aware of it and it weirds them out.
- I Have Many Names: Brian, mostly because Arin and Jon can never remember what his name was beforehand.
- Kiss of Death: Apparently one of Big Bill's attacks. After smooching a monster, it started to twitch around the room aimlessly.
- Mundane Made Awesome: Their quest to find the 7-11 in the middle of nowhere, fighting ECH'ing monsters Made of Explodium.
- No Name Given: Inverted and subverted: The game gives them the names of Arthur, Hecate, Merlin, and Hermes. But, they were playing on a Japanese cart, so their names were written in katakana. Which lead to the new names.
- Running Gag:
- Brian's numerous names.
- The Grumps can't ever tell if Bill is a woman or an old man.
- The Ace: Constantly a thorn in the side of the other three players.
- Antiquated Linguistics: As the mayor.
- Butt-Monkey: In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Seemingly knows what to do a little too often.
- A Day in the Limelight: Super Mario Bros. 2 features Luigi as their player character.
- Demoted to Extra: In Super Mario 3D world after Danny decides to use Toad due to Luigi's terrible traction and medium speed causing problems for him.
- Dogged Nice Guy: For Princess Peach in Super Mario 3, who only cares about Mario and treats Luigi with comical apathy.
- It notably happens in Starbomb's Luigi Ballad song when Peach has to choose between him and Mario. She eventually choses Toad for some reason.
- Subverted in Super Mario World where in spite of a relatively dispassionate "Oh, it's you", she gives Luigi a kiss and they leave the castle with Yoshi and the eggs seemingly having left Mario behind at the castle's entrance. She's also apparently got her hand on his ass/fondling his dick in the THE END picture."I know you're the one that really saved me. Pat pat."
- Hyper Competent Side Kick: If neither Grumps read the instructions and are not paired with DK/Birdo.
- Is also this to Mario. He beat Wart and took out Bowser twice in the Grumps playthroughs.
- Mistaken for Gay: By his parents, until he brings home Daisy.
- Nice Guy: Of the frustrating sort according to Jon and Arin.
- No-Respect Guy: Guy saves the day in Super Mario World and doesn't even get MENTIONED for his help in the ending blurb.
- Stealth Hi/Bye: "A fine day for mayoring, if I do say so myself. Ohh- death approaches!" (slams door shut)
- Talk About the Weather: Princess Peach only talks to Luigi in either small talk or questions about Mario. She even does talk about the weather at one point.
A recurring boss through the Grumps' playthroughs of Castlevania games, Death is a businessman with a windy cape even though he's inside a castle. He likes to keep skeletons on his boss arena to show off his work.
- Accidental Pervert: He gets confused to a pervert because he creeps into people's houses and kills them.
- Achilles' Heel: Holy Water, which freezes him in place. Upon finding out, Jon screams loudly.
- Dramatic Wind: His cape is all windy, even though he's inside a castle. It's implied to be because of his newly installed air conditioner.
- It's All About Me: Death is a narcissist who likes to show off his work by having skulls all over his room.
- That One Boss: Invoked. The Grumps have a really hard time defeating him every time he shows up. ...Except Castlevania II, where Dan simply walks past him and laughs.
A hypothetical stereotypical black magician, appearing in Part 3 of their Shatterhand gameplay.
- Black Magic: Where the joke came from.
- Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: Says this after revealing the secret of his tricks to the audience.
- Don't Explain the Joke: An audience member always shouts out the question for how he does his tricks, which he answers calmly, then regrets it afterward. Almost all of his tricks incorporate trap doors, even when it wouldn't make sense.
- No Indoor Voice: Randomly screams at his audience, who in turn yell at him.
- Pull a Rabbit out of My Hat: "It's a trap door".
- Saw a Woman in Half: "It's a trap door".
- Where da White Women At?: Yells this exactly, except that he substitutes "bitches" for "women".
The collection of Miis that were found in Arin's second-hand Nintendo Wii that were showcased in "Funny Mii Thing" and occasionally reappear whenever the Grumps play Wii games that use Miis as characters. They are; t, ffzho, yty, tr7rfy6ftf, ffm, ftt, srty, strgg, e4io, d677, sr677, fd, cfgh and ft776yhu.
- Aerith and Bob: E4io (pronounced "ee-for-ee-o") almost sounds like a real name according to Arin. Jon thinks it sounds like "euphoria".
- Arc Number: 677 appears twice which makes Jon suspect there is some kind of conspiracy going on.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Strgg, In-Universe Jon said it might be his favorite Mii. In their Pokemon Emerald playthrough, they name their Nincada after strgg.
- Expy: Rt776yhu looks like Steve Urkle according to Arin.
- Fun with Acronyms: Arin and Jon assume the Miis' names are all abbreviations. Srty stands for "sorry really, thank you" and cfgh stands for "crappy farts, go home".
- Gonk: Most of the Miis look pretty standard but some like ffzho, tr7rfy6ftf, and cfgh are quite ugly.
- In-Series Nickname: D677 is called "Granny d677" by Arin and cfgh is called "The Ant Lord" by Jon.
- Nerd Glasses: Strgg and rt776yhu.
Soon? the Torchic
- Power-Up Letdown: Doesn't evolve and gain its boosted stats or secondary Fighting type.
Bakuhaku♀♀ the Poochyena
- Meaningful Name: It's a Shout-Out to the "busu gasu baku haku" tongue twister Chiyo-chan attempts in Azumanga Daioh, because Jon is a big fan of the show, has a Chiyo-chan alarm clock, and even sung Chiyo's "Tsukurimashou" cooking song on the show during their very first playthrough, Kirby Super Star.
- The Unpronounceable: The two female gender symbols in its name.
GeorgLopez the Lombre
- Meaningful Name: A portmanteau and corruption of Gyorg, the Gargantuan Masked Fish from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and George Lopez, on account of the fact its face vaguely resembles the comedian's and the Pokemon is already based off a Spanish mariachi motif.
- Took a Level in Badass: When it evolves from Lotad to Lombre. He apparently becomes a talk show host (a reference to Lopez Tonight). More specifically, a host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Or as Jon puts it, he evolves into racism.
CHINA the Slakoth
- Lady Looks Like a Dude: From the back, she looks like an old man's face.
- Yellow Peril: Its name. Period.
nooooooooo the Zigzagoon
- Comm On: The reason behind its name.
- The Unfavorite: Not really meant to be caught and promptly dumped into the PC.
Compmsgcii the Shroomish
- Techno Babble: Its name refers to an obscure software standard.
STRGG the Nincada
- Meaningful Name: Named after a Mii from the "Funny Mii Thing" video showcasing all the funny/bizarre-looking Miis in the secondhand Miiverse profile on a Wii Arin bought from GameStop.
Lotad (unnicknamed)
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: The Grumps didn't intend to catch it, and deposited it in the PC, never to be heard from again.
Others
- Treecko, the unpreferred starter Pokemon the Grumps don't want to pick as opposed to Torchic and Mudkip, and whose sprite has its arms defensively outstretched, like he knows he's going to be rejected and is saying, "Hear me out, guys."..."This is why you should choose me."..."Just wait."
- Jon's Malicious Misnaming of wild Whismur, calling one a "Pumbloom" (which enrages Ego), and then another "Gamsmash", which he says evolves into "Dangledore" (an intentional skewing of "Dumbledore").
Danny Era (June 25, 2013 - Present)
- Epileptic Flashing Lights: His glittery appearance lends him his name.
- No Sense of Direction: Doubles as the guy who says, "Here?" and always leads the helicopter the wrong way which wastes precious fuel.
- Too Dumb to Live: Goes into a mine field where nobody can rescue him, and volunteers to investigate.
A stereotypical overbearing Jewish mother of seemingly Arin, Ross, Dan, and Barry, who wants to make sure her children live up to their potential during part 3 of the Civilization V playthrough. Would very much like to see a Notre Dame built in Tokyo.
- All Girls Want Bad Boys: Even if he is actively trying to destroy their nation, she has to admit she finds Augustus Caesar to be a very attractive young man who has wonderful hair.
- Jewish Mother: With a very thick accent
- So Proud of You: For all of her nagging, she still insists that the important thing is that her son tried to build the notre dame, even if Augustus kills him before he finishes it.
- Why Couldn't You Be Different?: Is constantly comparing them to other neighbor kids who "built a stone henge in Canada!"
- Also makes another appearance Super Castlevania IV Part 8 to badger Arin over how much damage he's taking, and how "his cousin" would've found more hidden-chicken, finished the boss faster, and probably would've dodged his fire attacks better.
The Emperor of Rome, and a general dick to Arin, Danny and Ross in the Civilization V playthrough.
- Arch-Nemesis: To the guys. His empire is the only one they interact with to any significant degree.
- The Ace: Seems to be better than them at the game in every way (partly because he's AI-controlled)
- The Dandy: Has the best haircut, even when scissors aren't invented.
- Dirty Coward: He attempts to propose a truce (after all his dickery, mind you) after Ross destroys one of his cities. Unfortunately, Ross was too far gone at this point.
- Hates Being Touched: In a territorial sense. Much of his dickishness stems from his dislike of the guys building anything near him, or even walking by.
- Jerkass: Danny even sings about it.
- Killed Off for Real: According to Ross, this happened when he(Ross) kicked the computer and shut off the recording.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: Mochi and Mimi are apparently working together in tandem as The Unmet Player.
- The Juggernaut: Even more skilled and threatening than Caesear or Gajah Mada the Pious of Indonesia.
An example of a sad Asian man, apparently one of the most depressing sights you can see. He starts out a completely lovable and sympathetic character with all his misery being out of his control, but is eventually revealed to be a pedophile.
- A Day in the Limelight: Has gotten his own Animated episode on the channel. In 3D animation.
- The Cameo: Makes a reappearance in the Kendo Rage video when the singing Japanese men remind Arin and Danny of him, and the grabby shrimp even more so. Also because the main character of the game is a Japanese schoolgirl.
- Gender-Blender Name: "Hoshi" is actually a girl's name.
- Guilt Complex: Feels guilty about his company losing billions of dollars and getting his co-workers fired, but it turns out it was completely out of his control. His co-workers blame him, to compound the sadness.
- Happily Married: His wife tries very hard to console him, as well as tolerate his magazine addiction.
- Heartbreak and Ice Cream: He doesn't even get to enjoy the ice cream, since his wife ate the last of it.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: As the joke progresses, Danny lampshades how he started out as a completely unbreakably sympathetic character until his pedophile tendencies are revealed. When he makes a return in Kendo Rage, this has more or less become his defining feature.
- Arc Words: Through the entirely of the Out of this World playthrough, in addition to the T-Shirt commercial.
- Big Damn Heroes: Pulls this off multiple times.
- Big Guy, Little Guy: Is this with Lester in Out of This World.
- Butt-Monkey: gets injured and left behind multiple times by Lester.
- Fastball Special: Does this with Lester to help him across a ditch.
- Fat Best Friend: Dan and Arin call him fat, but he's extremely helpful.
- Heel–Face Turn: He is one of the many aliens that are automatically out to kill the player.
- Henpecked Husband: His wife is one of the few people able to make him say anything other than his own name.
- Lady Mondegreen: Invoked. His original line of dialogue is heard to be his name according to Dan.
- Nice Guy: He always helps you out in your quest.
- Pokémon Speak: Mike Aruba! Mic Ruba! Mycuruba! My car, Ruba! Mcrumba!
- Speaking Simlish: The original voice he says is misconstrued as his name, but is really just gibberish.
- Spell My Name With An S: There seems to be no general consensus on how to actually spell his name. In part thanks to Barry, who spelled and named each part of the series a different variation of the phrase ('Mike Aruba', 'My Caruba', and 'My Car, Roomba' respectively, as well as spelling it 'Mycaruba' in the very last second of the series). More include "Mat Saruba" and "My Car, Ruba."
Dennis the Menace's Grumpy Old Neighbor. He scares the Grumps in the Dennis the Menace Game when he randomly comes on screen and carries off the eponymous character. He has a tendency to reappear often, such as in Kirby's Epic Yarn Part 12, Super Mario Sunshine Finale, Castlevania X Part 3 (as Jesus) and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (as Orca).
- Animal Hoarding: Has a significant amount of purple cats in his house.
- Berserk Button: Dennis the Menace in his Basement. GET OUTTA HERE!
- Boastful Rap: He's gonna smack your ass in a major way.
- Call-Back: The Grumps love to bring him back in several episodes, especially with his catchphrase of "GET OUTTA HERE!"
- Catchphrase: GET OUTTA HERE!
- Cool Old Guy: Depending how you define cool. He did fight in Korea, and can rap.
- Cut Himself Shaving: "HELLO, MRS. THE MENACE?! DENNIS CAME OVER TO MY HOUSE AND FELL DOWN THE STAIRS AGAIN... AGAIN! HE'S SO CLUMSY!"
- Dirty Old Man: He's implied to have sexually molested Dennis in the past, and it may be ongoing.
- Fingore: Lost three off his right hand in Korea.
- Gratuitous Rap: And it's hysterical.
- Haunted House: In addition to his Cats, inanimate objects like teacups, record players, stoves, and buttballs want Dennis dead.
- Jerkass: Both towards Dennis the Menace, and towards his brother as Orca in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
- Kick the Dog: After lying to Dennis' mother that Dennis fell down the stairs (see Cut Himself Shaving above), Mr. Wilson tells Dennis' mom to put Dennis in ballet class, seemingly just because Dennis would hate it."You should probably put him in... BALLET! That would embarrass- I MEAN, make him better at balancing!"
- Literal Ass-Kicking: His intention to show Dennis "how to play Butt Ball".
- Memetic Molester: Invoked. Plans to play "Butt Ball" with Dennis. Rule 1 is to never tell his parents. Rule 2 is to NEVER TELL HIS PARENTS!
- No Indoor Voice: Except when rapping, oddly enough. Played straight in his ASMR recordings.
- Nonstandard Character Design: While everything else in the game is stylized to some extent, Mr. Wilson is just a pixellated Walter Matthau head attached to a bathrobe.
- Piss-Take Rap: He's an old, grumpy man from a 50's TV show. Not the type you'd expect to hear a rap from.
- Recurring Character: Of all the made-up characters on the show, Mr. Wilson has reappeared the most often in one form or another.
- Running Gag: "GET OUTTA HERE" in Mr. Wilson's voice has been used many times in many episodes, usually when one of the Grumps or a character in a game says "Get out of here/there" in another context.
- Time Travel: His future self sent him one of the greatest sports of the future, Buttball.
- A Wild Rapper Appears!: Shows up out of nowhere, and Dan and Arin decide to give him a rap song.
Racist Bassist
Makes racial slurs while slapping riffs on his bass guitar.
- Aggressive Categorism: Thinks women can't play tennis because they don't have strong wrists.
- Greedy Jew: Thinks this about his accountant.
- Hates Everyone Equally: In a weird case, he hates possibly every major group (Blacks, Jews, Chinese, Japanese, and Caucasian, along with women and gays).
- The Klan: He's a part of it.
- Leitmotif/Sting: His specialty is being racist and playing the bass at the same time. Therefore, all his hate-speech is usually followed by some low end notes. Danny realizes near the end that he has to include a bass-line in every racist remark, or else it counts that time."I sure hope the Racist Bassist episode of Super Tennis has come out by the time this one does, otherwise won't we be in an awkward pickle..."-Danny in Episode 17 of Super Mario Sunshine after something about China having too many Chinese people.
- Nobody Loves the Bassist: Averted. Danny loves this one.
- Politically Incorrect Villain: He's a member of the KKK, and as well as being racist, he's also homophobic and sexist.
- Hypocrite: He's also apparently self-loathing, as Danny uses him to make a joke about Arin being 'just another honky cracker.'
- This Song Goes Out to TV Tropes: Tries to call out to Houston, only to encourage them to hate gay people.
- Yellow Fever: Subverted.Racist Bassist: "You know, I really love that Chinese food, but... who wants to fuck 'em?" *bass riff*
- You Are a Credit to Your Race: Enjoys Chinese food, but hates the Chinese.
- You Know What They Say About X...: Thinks black people are prone to making double faults in tennis.
Bummer Drummer
A bandmate of Racist Bassist's, Bummer Drummer is chronically depressed and keeps saying things that bring the mood down.
- All Drummers Are Animals: Completely averted, to the point that Danny wonders if he's so depressed that all he can hit is a hi-hat.
- Angst: Seemingly lives in an eternal state of it.
- Butt-Monkey: Both his wife and his son have died.
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Also, his dog ran away. Which was the only thing keeping him happy since he was diagnosed with cancer.
- The Eeyore: Has a tendency to bring up how sad he is.
- Leitmotif/Sting: Like the Racist Bassist, his lines are usually followed by a drum-solo (usually a hi-hat ride).
- Heavy Sleeper: Far too depressed to wake up in the morning.
- Shoot the Shaggy Dog: His lines don't go anywhere or add anything, and primarily serve to depress.
- Trauma Conga Line: In the space of his short time on the show, his wife has left him, his dog ran away, his child is dead, and he has cancer.
The computer player in Wheel of Fortune Junior. He wins in the first episode.
- The Ace: While he sometimes has bad luck with his spins, when he attempts to solve the word, he's never wrong. And he has an annoying tendency to solve the word just before Danny or Arin can do so.
- The Ahnold: Apparently, this is his voice.
- The Bad Guy Wins: "FUCK YOU TIMBO, TIMBO WINS, FUCK YOU TIMBO!"
- Expy: Very much like Fucking Larry from Jeopardy.
- He Who Must Not Be Seen: He has no character avatar.
- Initialism Title: "TIMBO" stands for "Total Intelligence Mastery Bot Organization".
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Very similar to Fucking Larry from an earlier Game Grumps vs.
- The Ace: Gets good grades, is incredibly popular, and really good at sports. Nobody picks on him.

- The Casanova: Has a lot of girlfriends.
- Catchphrase:
- "Too bad! So sad!"
- Calling people "polynygmions".
- Embarrassing First Name: Possibly embarrassing last name, or simply an embarrassing name. Apparently the reason his parents named him Dinkles was to make him slightly less manlier than he would become, to avoid him becoming too manly.
- Fridge Horror: Invoked. His insults are so advanced, you need to be in Trig 7 to understand them. Once you do take that class, you'll break down into tears.
- Genius Bonus: His insults.
- Grade Skipper: He's doing his undergraduate degree while still in Highschool, and taking Trig 5.
- Hates Everyone Equally: Bullies everybody.
- He-Man Woman Hater: Even picks on beautiful girls flirting with him.
- Hypocrite: He makes fun of Nerds, despite being a nerd himself. He also mocks a fellow nerd's pocket protector, despite wearing one himself.
- I Have Many Names: He may also be Terry Cavanagh.
- Insufferable Genius: The main reason he picks on people.
- Jerk Jock: Bullies everybody, including smaller nerds, other jocks, and girls who want to give him a blowjob.
- Asian Speekee Engrish: Except when singing, oddly enough.
- Hot-Blooded: Gets so excited that he sparks a whole music video.
- Reality Warper: What he must be if he can cause a music video to spontaenously generate.
- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Briefly before Dan remembered who they were talking about.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Loses against the Joker several times at the end of the playthrough.

- Blatant Lies: Trying to conceal his identity as Batman, Bruce Wayne comes up with "I was buying Ice Cream at the time".
- Dubstep: Apperently a fan of it.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Ross. Batman gives them a "Sexy" phone call, but because of Ross' answers it sounds a lot like he simply wants to hang out as a friend and watch Star Wars.
- Ho Yay: With Ross.
- Insane Troll Logic: When questioned about being Batman, his responses are "Do you SEE me wearing a cape? Do you see me crusading? Do YOU see a secret lair? I DON'T! I'm sorry, am I wearing a cape right now?!"
- Lame Comeback: "You're stupid!" When questioned if he's Batman.
- Manchild: Throws fits like a pre-teen girl when questioned about his alter ego.
- He similarly acts like a little girl when he prances around and sings "I'm a pretty princess!"
- Poor Man's Porn: The movie he wants to watch for a romantic evening with Ross? Star Wars.
- Rouge Angles of Satin: Due to Ross misspelling Batarang, Batman now has Bat-An-rangs, which they always pronounce as such.
- Real Men Wear Pink: Has his own Diary.
- He also dances around singing "I'm a pretty princess!" n his usual gravely voice.
- Secret Diary: Which contains secrets about him being Batman. Which he reads to prove he isn't Batman.
- Thousand-Yard Stare: On the ride home from the post office where Lucius accidentally outed him as Batman.
- Troll: Not him himself, but Bane towards him. Bane tricks him to look directly into the sun using reverse psychology, shows Batman his penis, and brags that he saw Batman's mother nude on Pay Per View.
- Unusual Euphemism: "So bring a Robin and we can play with my Batanrangs" Also, "Hang out and stuff".
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Gears are the only things Batman is weak against other than The Joker, and he is scared of them to the point of being afraid of watches and clocks.
- You Are Number 6: When he helps Arin in Bloodborne, he bears the name "Batman 135792468", Making the Grumps wonder what happened to the previous 135792467 ones.

- Gonk: Compared with the other Miis in the game.
- Lantern Jaw of Justice: His defining feature.
- Meaningful Name: As evidenced by his name, he's got quite the chin.
- Multiple Reference Pun: After everyone is forced to roll a 1 (due to Ross), Suzy hits the button to send the detatched island to the south of the map, marooning Chinigan. She then points out that it's become Chinigan's Island (which causes Ross to break out into song).
- Real Men Wear Pink: Wears a pink shirt, and even gets first dibs on it over Arin, who also wanted to wear a pink shirt.
- Recognition Failure: Everybody claims he looks familiar, but nobody can place who it reminds them of. Until Arin mentions it's a deformed version of him. Everybody immediately sees it.

- Appropriated Appellation: Named for Spinnaker Softwares, a defunct educational game company.
- Bizarre Taste in Food: They love Chocolate covered nachos.
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: They begin sounding like they could actually exist as a race. Then they begin to leave trails of slime and gain the ability to fly.
- Fantastic Racism: They are a fictional race of people, and are later revealed to have wings, yellow skin, hands and teeth, brown noses and ooze slime like a snail.
- He Was Right There All Along: The third episode of Ross and Barry's Tasty Blue playthrough has them discover that Arin is a Spinnaker. The "Eureka!" Moment comes when Ross brings up how Spinnakers are born at the age of six without a face.
- Make a Wish: Wishing on a Spinnaker causes it to come true. Or so Cindy said.
- Perfectly Cromulent Word:,More or less how they came to be. note

- When I Was Your Age...: He's Danny's go-to parody of senile a old man trying to remember random things from his youth.
- Bad "Bad Acting": Very much not of the parody kind. The Grumps mercilessly mock how stilted and unnatural her performance is.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard / Rigged Contest: Whenever the Grumps speak bad about her, they always seem to land on Bankrupt or Lose a Turn.
- The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Because she apparently knows when they call her a bitch.
- Sarcasm Mode: The Grumps think that her statements of sympathy after they get a "Lose A Turn" or a "Bankrupt" sound sarcastic.

- Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Buttlet is a name Arin chose. Past Links from other games have been Spiarmf and Groomp.
- Heroic Mime: Except when the Grumps voice him. In the actual game he is this.
- Infectious Enthusiasm: When using the Wind Waker, he'll get really into the performance.
- Just a Kid: He tends to get this treatment from King of Red Lions, even after he has completed the Tower of the Gods and rescued Aryll. When Tetra is revealed to be Zelda, King of Red Lions forgets Buttlet is even there, then asks Buttlet if he wants gumdrops.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Has sexual desire for pretty much every female in the Legend of Zelda universe except for his grandma.
- When asked to rescue Mila and Maggie by their fathers, he replies with "Yeah, I'll fuck your daughter. That's what you're asking, right?"
- Parental Incest: Is attracted to his own mom. At least Arin is, anyway. To Buttlet's mom.
- Jerkass: Especially to the King of Red Lions.
- He insults Medli's "gross duck beak", hurting her feelings but when they're alone, he insists on getting a blowjob.
- Sassy Black Woman: When conducting his Wind Waker.
- Something We Forgot: His own sister in Ganon's clutches. He very determinedly adventures to rescue her, but forgets all about her in the excitement.
- Standard Hero Reward: Rescuing any female will lead him to want to have sex with them.
- Teeny Weenie: "It's okay, just put your hand on my TINY dick!" He is a child after all.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: He flirts and wants to have sex with every female character in the Zelda Universe, including his own mom and sister.
- In fact, he himself curses his age and that he's not old enough to have sex, yet has all the adult desire and knowledge of it.
The King of Red Lions/ King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule/Boat
The talking Boat in The Wind Waker. The Grump's interpretation of him is very unique.
- Animate Inanimate Object
- Authority in Name Only: "Buttlet, don't go! You're the only one who believes I'm the king of anything!"
- Bad Liar: When asked where the other Red Lions are, that he's king of, he says that they are all at a Baseball game at the moment.
- Butt-Monkey: At one point, the Grumps threaten to leave him behind in exchange for another boat that doesn't talk.
- Canon Discontinuity: Danny disregards the fact that the King of Red Lions is really the king of Hyrule, preferring to believe him as just a boat.
- Cool Boat: In fact when his human form is revealed, Buttlet (Link) is angry that he's no longer a boat.
- Dirty Old Man: Especially in the ending, when he keeps making Double Entendre , but made jokes like this before.King of Red Lions: (when taking Buttlet and Medli to the Earth Temple) "Oh boy! Now there's two children in me!"
- Everyone Went to School Together: He was apparently college roommates with Valoo and Jabun, complaining that Jabun was "always like this- even with Christine, you were always like this!"
- Insistent Terminology: His name is 'Boat', according to Dan. Not anything else, just 'Boat.'Arin: I'm just gonna go back to my friend the Red King, or whatever the fuck his name is, I don't give shit.
Danny: What, Boat?
Arin: OH, YOU MEAN BOAT! Don't try to humor him by making him think he's a person. - Miles Gloriosus: Being a boat, he has nothing to contribute in a fight.
- No-Respect Guy: "I am the King of Red Lions!" "BYE BOAT!"
- Single Specimen Species: The Grumps point out that, for being a King of Red Lions, you never see any other red lions anywhere. They conclude the entire shtick is simply to impress people despite being a boat.
- Suddenly Fluent in Gibberish: The Grumps joke that he doesn't actually understand what Valoo or Jabun are saying, he just wants to sound impressive.
- The Reveal: His real, non-boat form.
- Small Name, Big Ego: He's constantly bragging how he's the king, but being an inanimate boat, he has no real power.
- Innocently Insensitive: "Hey, didn't you say your wife was dead? I've always liked your wife." By the way, this comes completely out of the left field.
- Mood Whiplash: His main purpose.
- Nightmare Retardant: Invoked by Danny when the game gets too scary for him.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: Because he's intangible, he can no longer eat applesauce, which is why he instead looks for "demon applesauce".
- Skewed Priorities: He's also trapped in Silent Hill, and while he seems to understand the situation better than Harry does, all he cares about is the fact that the vending machine's run out of applesauce.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Applesauce.
- Ambiguously Brown: Mill F. has a much darker complexion, but what ethnicity she has is a mystery to Arin and Danny.
- Dirty Old Man: Tumpynutsメ shows some intense desire to have sex with Mill F, who's much younger.
- Drives Like Crazy: "Being Old and Asian! A winning Driving combo!" and it turns out Tumpynutsメ sheer lack of driving still wins him the RTV race.
- Eyes Always Shut: Tumpynutsメ.
- Future Me Scares Me: Danny envisions looking like Tumpynutsメ as he gets older, shrinking and getting fat, and becoming the exact opposite of what he is in real life.
- Gratuitous Japanese: Tumpynutsメ has the katakana on the end for absolutely no reason. Apparently, it makes his name Tumpynuts Me.
- Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Arin and Danny got to name the characters.
- Little People: Tumpynutsメ is incredibly short.
- Magic Plastic Surgery: Averted. Tumpynutsメ has gotten plastic surgery so many times his face has been mutilated into a hideous permanent smile.
- Meaningful Name: Mill F. is indeed an MILF, so it's why Arin named her as such.
- Odd Couple: A hot mom (with no children anywhere to be seen) travelling with a Dirty Old Man whose somebody's grandpa, but not related to her. Yet, they do everything together.
- Racist Grandpa: Tumpynutsメ switches between being Japanese and insulting them because he fought them in the war. He also calls Mill F. a Nairobi whore.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Tumpynutsメ and Mill F. respectively.
- Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: "Is there a mercy rule for these TALENTLESS WHORES?!" as one example amoung several from Tumpynutsメ.
- Statuesque Stunner: Arin made Mill F. as tall as possible and she's significantly taller than Tumpynutsメ, who also finds her very attractive.
- Steven Ulysses Perhero: Mill F. is a MILF.
- Stepford Smiler: Tumpynutsメ looks permanently happy because of a botched plastic surgery, but he's very depressed on the inside.
- Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Tumpynutsメ and Mill F.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: When changing clothes for Tumpynutsメ, Danny tries to pick the lamest, oldest looking clothing, which all made him look like an old Asian woman. Danny voices him as such for a brief period of time.
- Armless Biped: Fortunately, you don't need arms for walking.
- Cannot Tell a Joke: Because all his humor circuits are being used for walking.
- Crippling Overspecialization: Walking is literally the only thing he can do, but dammit, he makes the most of it. By walking.
- Robot Buddy: Feeling down? He'll cheer you up by walking for you!
- Unflinching Walk: Missiles, lasers, aliens... doesn't matter, nothing can stop Walking Robot from walking!
- Your Answer to Everything: Take a guess. It's walking!
- Ambiguously Jewish
- The Bad Guy Wins: He crushes Arin in Final Jeopardy. Arin & Danny promptly shank him.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Samuel always seems to know the answer before Arin and Danny do.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Gives one to the Grumps. Especially evident in Final Jeopardy.
- Disproportionate Retribution: After the Grumps lose to him, they shank him.
- Insufferable Genius: The Grumps' interpretation of him.
The player character of Punch-Out!!, a boxer from New York who works to become the greatest fighter around. The Grumps' interpretation of him is a little... different.
- Absurdly Youthful Father: According to the Grumps, he's said to have had (and abandoned) a kid. Since the kid is able to talk (or at least write sentences), the youngest Mac could've had them is around thirteen years old given the fact that he's seventeen.
- The All-American Boy: His winning animations seem to give off this vibe to the Grumps.
- Blood Knight: Opens episode 2 cheerily while in the midst of punching Disco Kid.
- Beware the Silly Ones: See above.
- Cloud Cuckoolander: All the blows to the head have had an... interesting effect on him.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Plows through his opponents effortlessly in his NES incarnation.
- Also applies to Mac himself when Mike Tyson returns the favor. Multiple times.
- Good Old Fisticuffs: Well he is a boxer...
- Heroic Second Wind: Ends up giving him the win against Great Tiger.
- Later, leads to his victory over Mr. Sandman.
- Non Sequitur, *Thud*: The Grumps theorize that all the blows to the head have had this effect on him. This is for you, King Ghidorah!
- Parental Abandonment: The Grumps say that the "Daddy, please come home!" statement was directed towards him.
- Rage Against the Mentor: Has one towards Doc after getting thrashed by Mr. Sandman.Yeah Doc, why don't you stop calling the shots when I can't stand 'em?!
- Simpleton Voice: Whenever he gets a particularly savage beating.
Doc Louis
Former boxing champion turned coach, the Grumps characterize him as being generally unconcerned with Mac's safety, despite not actually believing much in him.
- Author Avatar: Arin identifies with him and voices many of his opinions through him.
- Dirty Coward: Expects Mac to live up to his boasts, no matter how badly he's beaten.
- Let's You and Him Fight: He's quick to volunteer Mac for a rematch, even when the latter is dying.
- So Proud of You: Near the end of Mr. Sandman's fight.
- Stealth Insult: His victory quotes imply he never expected much of Mac, which Danny takes as mean spirited.
- Stealth Mentor: All the trash-talking he did was to make Mac want to prove him wrong. It worked.
- Your Answer to Everything: Chocolate.
Opponents
The various politically incorrect boxers Danny faces as Little Mac.
- Defeating the Undefeatable: After one year, nine months and countless failures, Danny finally beat Mike Tyson.
- Played straight with Mr. Sandman in the Wii version.
- Equal-Opportunity Offender: Dan rationalizes the game is not racist, in that it is equally unflattering to both America and Japan (even though the game is Canadian, but they too are mocked).
- Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: As part of their impression of Mike Tyson.
- Henpecked Husband: Soda Popinski apparently gets super meek when it comes to his wife, who is far smaller than him.
- Foe Romance Subtext: Invoked. Tyson winks at Mac before throttling him mercilessly.
- Gratuitous Spanish: Dan incorrectly translates "Carmen, mi amor" to "Punch of Love", which he believes is the name of his punch. In actuality, he is dedicating the attack to "Carmen, my love".
- Nice Guy: Mr. Sandman, apparently.
- Saving the Orphanage: Mr. Sandman, again, which Mac cruelly denies him.
- ...And 99¢: Miltons are $39 apiece.
- Arc Number: Downplayed, buying thirty-eight Miltons will get you a dollar off, making the thirty-eighth one cost thirty-eight dollars.
- As Long as It Sounds Foreign: Their accents.
- Awesome, but Impractical: Milk chocolate Miltons are great for decoration, but not to eat, as shown below and above.
- Happy Fun Ball: Milton seems awfully nonchalant about mentioning the fact that his products, which look perfectly innocuous, are lethally toxic. He only mentions this after selling one.
- One-Steve Limit: Highly averted, as there are many Miltons. Though one million might be asking much.
- Poisonous Person: Miltons are highly poisonous, do not eat.
- Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Maury, who only makes Mauries, and has better prices than Milton. The two companies may be competing against each other.Fuck Maury!
Nobody knows Milton like Milton! - Spell My Name With An S: Is it Milton's Milton Factory or Milton's Milton Manufacturing?
- There Is No Cure: Milton's Melting, an incurable disease among whose first sign is misunderstanding vowels, and the last sign of which is death. It's very rare, but very effective.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Milton seems to have loved milk chocolate, which eventually led to his downfall when he realized he was going to die, as Milton continued to explain.
- What the Hell Is That Accent?: Vaguely Russian, but too garbled and nasally to really tell.
- Ambiguous Gender: It is a hamburger after all. How are you supposed to tell?
- It's revealed in the "I 🍔 Burgie" commercial that Burgie is male.
- Anthropomorphic Food: He's a hamburger with eyes and a mouth.
- Berserk Button: Hotdogs, as to him they're taking all the jobs and are ruining the country.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Briefly gains a pair during Secret of the Magic Crystals (they quickly fall off, though).
- Catchphrase: BEEFY!
- Darker and Edgier: Appears in Super Mario 64 as a zombie burger, which Arin immediately calls "Zurgie."
- Demon Burgie in the All Hail Burgie commercial.
- Demonic Possession: By the evil artifcat Ross brought over after saying Beefy he comes Demon Burgie.
- Fantastic Racism: Against Hotdogs.
- Flying Face: ...On a hamburger.
- In-Series Nickname: In Heart of Darkness episode 14, Arin calls it "Burgie".
- Kick the Dog: Arin gets mad at Burgie for interrupting him during his Sanity Slippage during Heart of Darkness, making Burgie sad.
- Perpetual Smiler: He's almost never seen with any other expression. Except for a frown in its debut and a sad face when an enraged Arin declared "Fuck the burger!" during Heart of Darkness.
- Burgie sports a frown with a scowl as Demon Burgie in the All Hail Burgie commercial.
- Secret Identity: Suzy theorizes that Burgie is Barry in disguise, since their names are similar.
- Many fans have also started to theorize this as Barry voices Burgie in the "I 🍔 Burgie" Commercial but makes no appearance in person.
- Sizeshifter: When it shows up in Fire Red, it has inexplicably doubled in size since its last appearance. When it shows up again in Heart of Darkness, it takes up the entire screen.
- Suddenly Voiced: In the "I 🍔 Burgie" commercial.
- Theme Naming: They eventually named the burger Burgie, a while after they named the happy-faced subscribe button 'Scribey.'
- The Other Marty: Subverted as Barry was probably already chosen to be the voice of Burgie but in the behind the scenes footage he apparently couldn't make the Sketch film date and thus Burgie was controlled and voiced by Ninja Brian (as his not ninja self) during the live shoot as a stand in with Barry voicing Burgie in the commercial proper.
- Thousand-Yard Stare: Its vacant, unblinking gaze can only make one wonder what horrors this hamburger has seen.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Emo Teen Dan in the "I 🍔 Burgie" commercial.
- Vocal Dissonance: He's cute, adorable and small (sometimes) so you imagine his voice would be high pitched. Nope it's deep and gravely.
- You Don't Look Like You: The burger looks... noticeably different in the first episode of the Super C playthrough.
Gulorful is the protagonist of Go! Go! Nippon!, named by Ross. He's visiting Japan and living with Makoto and Akira, two sisters and native Japanese who have taken him in.
- Yandere: His urges to pounce on the girls are something Gulorful suppresses. Arin and Ross joke about how he's trying to avoid murdering the girls. As the episodes go on, it comes increasingly more apparent.Let me take you back to the house and make you feel accepted...with my knife...I'm sorry, with my life
Makoto and Akira
Two sisters who are hosting Golorful during his stay in Japan.
- Bifauxnen: Akira.
- Easily Forgiven: Makoto quickly forgives Golorful for walking in on her naked. Arin and Ross joke that it's because she's lusting after Golorful and wants to hook up with him.
- Engrish: Makoto and Akira, moreso with the latter.
- Otaku: Akira.
- Toilet Humor: Apparently, Akira has a bad habit of making stealth farts.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Akira and Makoto, respectively.
I never
The Pokémon Trainer of the Pokémon FireRed playthrough. She doesn't really get enough time in the limelight as most of it has been mooched by your regularly scheduled grumps.
- Out of Focus: She makes a Dragon Ball Character in DBZ look like they actually matter in the show! Linzbot's animated episodes seem to be the one time she's actually integral to the playthrough, as she's allowed to be showcased a lot more as an actual character all her own than just her player character overworld sprites.
Sch the Charizard
I never's first Pokémon.
- Decoy Protagonist: While Sch didn't die, he has taken backstage to the other mons like Buntd, and TurntSNACO. After he evolved, he regained his protagonist status somewhat, until being retired due to forgetting Flamethrower.
- Playing with Fire
- Took a Level in Badass: Upon becoming a Charizard, he gained a significant stat boost. However, Arin accidentally forgot Flamethrower when learning Wing Attack.
- Put on a Bus: In Pokemon Mansion to make way for SPLAART to come back.
Buntd, the Beedrill
First caught as a Weedle in Viridian Forest.
- Creator's Pet: In-Universe example, Arin stated that Beedrills are his favorite Pokémon. He's almost always first out in battles, even with a type disadvantage.
- Lethal Joke Character: See below in addition two his two main attacking being Twinneedle and Pin Missile.
- The Scapegoat: Becomes the Buntd, of many jokes because competitively, Beedrill is one of the worst choices. Yet he's one of Arin's favorite Pokémon, and after a bit of annoyance, including some jackass rudely calling him out on the Last Unicorn tour for using it so much, Arin decides to taunt the viewers by keeping it in his party non-stop and making it his go-to Pokemon.
- As of Gen VI, a Beedrill that can Mega Evolve, however, turns into a ferocious Glass Cannon, but since this is a Gen III game, this is before Mega Evolution was introduced, and Buntd, can't do so (unless Arin were to do a multi-game Pokemon transfer across Gen III to IV to V to VI.) When he first learned of its Mega Evolution Announcement, Arin reacted with glee.
- Took a Level in Badass: With the newest playthrough Buntd, has suddenly become a beast. So much that he's almost outgunning the level 50 Articuno for screentime. In fact, he tore through many trainers at Sabrina's gym, and two of the leader's own Pokemon, with little effort.
SPLAART!!! the Pikachu
A Pikachu that I never caught in Viridian Forest.
- Badass Adorable: Of course, she's a Pikachu.
- Can't Catch Up: Arin's weakest Pokémon. Aside from maybe Knurt.
- My Master, Right or Wrong: Danny jokingly discusses what a Pokémon War might be like, with SPLAART!!! saying this word-for-word.
- Not Allowed to Grow Up: Arin hasn't bothered trying to let her evolve yet.
- Put on a Bus: After falling behind in level, SPLAART was exchanged for IM SORRY.
- Samus Is a Girl: Not as bad as Fuck King, as Danny notes it's a female Pikachu just before Arin catches her, but after that she gets called a boy a few times.
- Shock and Awe: It's a Pikachu, what did you expect?
- Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Seems to get more focus, and love, than Sch. Not that all players treat their starter as their hero.
- Later subverted as she fell Out of Focus and was then Put on a Bus.
- The Bus Came Back: Arin used the Pokémon Mansion to attempt to level up SPLAART. It... didn't work so well, but SPLAART remained on the team.
Knurttt the Rattata
I never's first capture.
- Com Mons: Is a Rattata.
- Put on a Bus: Currently being trained at the day care to make more room on the team.
- The Load: He was so behind in levels compared to everybody else that he was basically unusable, leading Arin to consider releasing him before simply putting him in a Day Care.
- Arin jokes that Knurttt is now too strong for the Grumps to handle, since he's been at the Day Care for some time. Later subverted when they find out he was only Level 31, while the rest were in their mid-30s or above.
TurntSNACO the Graveler
Captured as a Geodude in Mt. Moon.
- Body Horror: Due to the ambiguity of his backsprite, Danny interprets a raised arm as growing out of Turnt's forehead.
- Inherently Funny Words: His name.
- The Big Guy: One of I never's most physically powerful mons.
- Dishing Out Dirt: Magnitude is one of his most-used moves, and is eventually upgraded to Earthquake.
- Power Up Letdown: Arin considers trying to hook up his Gameboy Advance to perform a trade evolution to get Golem and fully evolve TurntSNACO, but never gets around to the effort of doing so.
Fuck King the Vileplume
A Gloom that I never caught to better prepare her team for the Cerulean Gym.
- Gender-Blender Name: She's a female.
- Green Thumb: A Grass-type.
- Samus Is a Girl: From the moment she was caught, she was referred to as a male. Barry at least seems to know she's a girl.
- The Smart Guy: Rather than hitting hard like TurntSNACO or Sch she has two status affecting moves and an attack that sucks health.
- Took a Level in Badass: When she is finally evolved into a Vileplume.
- What Measure Is a Non-Cute?: Danny is grossed out by Fuck King when she evolves from an Oddish to Gloom, Arin responds by calling Danny an "insensitive prick".
- Put on a Bus: Replaced by Lomster.
- The Bus Came Back: Back for now to assist in capturing Zapdos.
Buttnuttz! the Dugtrio
A Dugtrio that I never caught in Diglett's cave.
- Dishing Out Dirt
- Disc-One Nuke: When captured, he was ten levels higher then the rest of I never's team, making him their most powerful Pokémon. Arin, however, was under the impression he'd disobey orders if the correct Gym badge wasn't collected (this only affects traded Pokémon), so he didn't use him very much. He was later surpassed by the other Pokémon and then put into the PC.
- Put on a Bus
Boogston the Mankey
Captured in Rock Tunnel.
- Chekhov's Gunman: Arin mentioned very early on he wanted a Mankey.
- Gender-Blender Name: Which leads Danny to call it a "Wo-Mankey".
- Something We Forgot: Arin wanted to put Boogston in the party after they got out of Rock Tunnel, but then got distracted by Celadon City. They never came back for her.
IM SORRY the Goldeen
One of many, many Pokemon caught in the Safari Zone.
- Apologises a Lot: Apologetic for not being the Dratini Arin wanted.
- Guest-Star Party Member: Brought in as a replacement for SPLART!!!
- Making a Splash: The Surf user (for a little while).
DRATINI the Goldeen
- Malicious Misnaming: Spitefully given its nickname after Arin failed to catch Dratini and had a Rage Quit moment.
MR. MART the Golduck
Captured as a Psyduck in the Seafoam Islands.
- Holding Back the Phlebotinum: Although he knows Surf, Arin consistently chooses to use Confusion in battle, even when Surf would be more effective. Arin seems to believe Golduck is part-Psychic, but even if that were true Surf would still be the more powerful move - meaning that MR. MART is usually being held back in battles.
- Making a Splash: The current Surf user.
- Sixth Ranger: Hasn't been around as long as the rest, and hasn't quite endeared himself to fans the same way Arin's earlier captures did.
- Took A Level In Bad Ass: When it evolved. Mr. Mart had little trouble catching up to its teammates in level.
BLUPL the Articuno
- Big Brother Instinct: Danny refers to BLUPL as the stronger Big Brother of their Pokémon.
- Call-Back: Was originally meant to be named "BLURPL," per Danny's suggestion, but Arin forgot the R. In the Super Metroid series, Danny mentioned that if he could name a color, he'd call it Blurpl.
- Olympus Mons
- Disc-One Nuke: Not quite 'disc one' anymore, but the capture of BLUPL provided a significant advantage at a time when Arin only had five badges.
- Energy Weapon: Spamming Ice Beam results in this, possibly in reference to the Pokémon anime where Ice Beam is depicted this way.
DANSSTUPID the Ponyta
- Take That!: Dan adores the fact there's a Pokemon that's a pony and verbally forces Arin to catch it when he doesn't want to. Now you can understand why Arin gave it the name he did.
LOMSTER the Moltres
- Significant Anagram: "Lomster" is just the letters in "Moltres" rearranged.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: I never's second Fire-Flying Pokemon, replacing their starter, who was also Fire-Flying. Mainly because Arin deleted his best move, Flamethrower, which Moltres already knows, and it was an easier solution than the hassle of getting the Flamethrower TM or seeking out the Move Relearner.
GREG the Zapdos
- Aerith and Bob: After the oddly named BLUPL and LOMSTER, we get GREG.
- Meaningful Rename: Danny and Arin originally made plans to name GREG "JINKWAD", but Danny admitted they'd almost certainly forget by the time they got to Zapdos, even when they could review their old videos and learn what it was meant to be called. Sure enough, they did. But when one realizes that it is an accidental Brick Joke (see below), the name becomes even more fitting than "JINKWAD".
- Mythology Gag: Shares the name of the protagonist from "God of War: Legend of Greg" first brought up in the Sonic '06 playthrough. Because who exactly this "Greg" fellow was never elaborated on, GREG the Zapdos could very well be the protagonist!
- Girly Run: Wander's tendency to do this has not gone unnoticed.
- Hypercompetent Sidekick: Agro can be said to be smarter than his master, Wander.
- Iron Butt Monkey: Wander takes a lot of physical abuse in his quest, from falling long distances, to almost drowning, to getting a face-full of Malus magic, to finally getting possessed by Dormin... all to revive the girl he loves.
- Living Emotional Crutch: Danny's tendency to call for Agro instead of jumping results in him being portrayed as one.
- Mike Nelson, Destroyer of Worlds: Who'd have thought that the same idiot who calls for his horse instead of jumping would succeed in releasing (and getting possessed by) Satan?
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Dormin's body is scattered as fragments in each of the Colossi (which do not hesitate to strike Wander).
- Simpleton Voice: All of the Colossi have one.
- Stealth Hi/Bye: One of Agro's many skills.
- Took a Level in Dumbass: Wander is FAR more idiotic here, performing such blunders as calling for Agro when attempting to jump. To some extent, the Colossi too (they weren't exactly intelligent beings already, but all of them are given a slow-minded personality with a simpleton voice).
The Spore Creature: Spikemunch, Monovision, legs fo days, arms fo mins, George fo days, Nick Trickle, Dickus Erectus Boneritis, Clyde n' Slide, Gentle Genus, Ridin fo DAYZ (DIRTY), Sexy Pizza Ass
The Steam Train conductors' phallic Spore creature that went through various names through its evolution.
- Badass Biker: Ridin fo DAYZ (DIRTY) could be considered this if you use the term loosely.
- Gag Penis: The Nick Trickle form in particular is gigantic, with a huge "neck", but stubby limbs attached to the "thighs"
- Insistent Terminology: It's not a dick. It's a monster created in the Spore Creature Creator engine.
- Non-Indicative Name: A few of its forms were this way. For example, "legs fo days" had no legs, and was just a simple cock-and-balls with a mouth the moment it walked on land. Next evolution they added legs but no arms and named it "arms fo mins".
- Omnicidal Maniac: Often ended up being the case, with the creature attacking whatever it sees. Attempts to make it sociable have thus far backfired. Gentle Genus was meant to avert this, but that too didn't result in any befriending.
- Missing Mom: Arin reveals in a one-sided conversation that his parents are dead, but can be revived if the audience subscribes.
- Voice for the Voiceless: The Grumps occasionally talk to him, but he never says anything back. They speak for him.
- Bratty Half-Pint: At the end of episode 3, it's concluded with her repeatedly firing magic at Cinderella, who comments, "I'm...sure she'll grow out of it."
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Arin and Danny joke that 8888u's magic to free Cinderella's city from the freezing spell is just turning the city into a Crapsack World.
- When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Her solution to pretty much everything is just to zap it with her magic wand.
- Big Damn Heroes: He comes to Andy's rescue several times.
- Expy: He's essentially the game's equivalent of Mike Aruba, a fact which is even noted by the Grumps.
- Lady Mondegreen: Invoked. Much like Mike, the Grumps named him based on the first thing they hear him say.
- Simpleton Voice: Not just the voice given to him by the Grumps, but his actual in-game voice as well (though at one point, they imagine him being surprisingly articulate).
- Action Girl: When Angie reveals she conveniently studied Akido, the Grumps go ahead and make her also be a heavyweight MMA champion, a Nth degree ninja, a prize-winning rifleman, and a Vietnam War veteran.Danny!Angie: I'll suplex this door!
- Abusive Parents: Derek's mom beat Derek in this version.
- Alternate Universe: The failed missions and Game Overs are treated as this by Arin.
- Black Comedy: To the shock of the Grumps. Angie eavesdrops on the conversation between a woman who attempted suicide, and her parents.Angie: "...I didn't hear anything worth dying over, though."
- Catchphrase: Derek's Angie!
- Characterization Marches On: Angie's characterization was closer to her in-game status as Derek's Only Sane Man. Later episodes have her acting as a Woman Child, with Derek being the Only Sane Man.
- Comically Inept Healing: Derek usually can't succeed in surgery without killing the patient five or so times in a row. Highlights include using the defibrillator on his own feet instead of the patient's heart, and sneezing into a patient's open eyeball and mouth.
- Faux Symbolism: In-universe. When she's told that GUILT is attacking Derek's heart, Angie misses the point and declares that it's symbolic of his love for her. And that, if they cut him open and saw the Kyriaki, they'd have her face.
- Gameplay and Story Integration: Weirdly, because Arin and Danny are working together and would often fail at coordinating, or from the difficult missions later on, the Game Over screens stating that Derek should never have been operating become very accurate. Arin and Danny are not cut out for surgery.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Angie keeps her anger and seriousness from the actual game when she confronts her Disappeared Dad.
- Office Romance: Their feelings for each other flip-flop, but they usually default to Belligerent Sexual Tension. Derek might flirt with other women though.
- Ship Tease: Both in-game and by the Grumps.
- Surfer Dude: Derek often speaks like one.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Derek tells Angie that surgeons aren't equipped to heal psychological wounds, especially Angie. Angie seems to not even notice.
- Ambiguously Gay: After he observes a patient seems "stable", he wants to ask him out.
- Backseat Driver: During surgery, he constantly criticizes Derek (and the Grumps) on their performance while standing over him. He also drops food into the patient's wound by accident.
- Big Eater: Especially during surgery. In particular, cranberries.
- Breakout Character: Is one of the Grumps's most popular interpretations of an in-game character. A compilation of his moments even lasts to nearly 50 minutes. Danny also notes that if the time between episode releases were seasonal gaps, Hoffman's return would surely invoke Studio Audience cheers.
- The Cameo: When Danny sees that a lake in Deadly Premonition is named "Lake Cranberry," he briefly brings back Hoffman.
- Characterization Marches On: The first few times he appeared Arin gave him a deeper old man voice and he was more of a jerk with some weird streaks rather than being outright senile. Then Dan did his signature old man voice and created the insane senile old man we all know.
- Cloud Cuckoolander: Routinely goes on tangents about the good ol' days, cranberries, and talks to stuff animals and trees. He may be the strangest, wackiest, least lucid character ever to be seen on the show.
- Companion Cube: Talks to stuffed cats and dogs, and it's implied he has an "old friend" who is a tree.
- Deal with the Devil: "The devil! He's here?! I still owe him a soul!"
- Flanderization: In his first appearance(s), he was slightly kooky and explained that he had Alzheimer's, so it was completely understandable. Later on, however...Dr. Hoffman: "Your nose-grabbing days are over Stiles! I'm smelling the sweet smell of justice! And I'm doing that with the NOSE that I've Got!"
- Grumpy Old Man: Makes fun of Derek and tries to convince him not to join Caduceus.
- Healing Hands: He has "The Healing Touch", which the game can't seem to decide whether or not is a secret the player shouldn't know. He can't actually use it anymore, because of his hook hands.
- Hook Hand: Both hands, as of Episode 31. They are tangled up behind his back, which is apparently why the player never sees them.
- Malaproper: Constantly mispronouncing words, such as license (as lick-ence) and menace (as men-a-ché).
- Parental Abandonment: His parents were brutally murdered in front of him. Although he was actually thinking of Batman instead of himself.Dr. Hoffman: "It was right outside Gotham theatre! I always had an aversion to bats."
- Percussive Maintenance: If you fail at surgery, he'll attempt to save the patient's life. By punching them in the face repeatedly.
- Potty Failure: "Pooped'em. Pooped my pants."
- Senior Sleep-Cycle: Falls asleep constantly.
- The Stoner: He frequently called people out for Bogarting roaches in college.
- Trademark Favorite Food: "I can't send you to Caduceus! Then you'd eat all the cranberries." "Do you have any cranberries? I love cranberries. You have a letter! It's "C". For Cranberry!"
- Unwanted Assistance:Dr. Hoffman: "How can I help? I'm here too!"
Dr. Kasal: "Continue eating your pudding."
Dr. Hoffman: "Okay! I'm good at that!"
- Ambiguously Gay: He kisses almost any patient he runs into, but it's (usually) not for romantic or sexual purposes. He does seem interested in Trager's butt, though.
- Unfazed Everyman: At most, he's very blase about being trapped inside an asylum, and spends a lot of time making friends with the patients. He's only troubled when enemies are attacking.
- Distracted by the Sexy: He's furious with Trager, until he notices his well-shaped butt.
Arin and Danny's puppy protagonist in 'The Dog Island', a white Pomeranian.
- Determinator: After being told the weather is too hazardous to go to Dog Island, what does PRINCEF TAAANKS do? Jumps off a boat in the middle of a giant storm!
- Inexplicably Identical Individuals: Her family look exactly like her, only with accessories to tell them apart.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: Well, duh.
- Real-Person Cameo: Slightly named after Danny's dog, Princess Tinkles, and they share the same breed.
- The Speechless: "A woman of few words," as described by Danny.
A computer-controlled opponent in Monopoly. He's set to easy, yet remarkably he does much better than his set-to-hard counterpart Rad Tad, and becomes Arin's strongest opponent.
- Artificial Stupidity: Subverted, although Arin and Dan assume he'll act stupidly due to his AI settings, he fares really well overall.
- Genius Ditz: Despite being set on easy difficulty, and being characterized as an idiot by Arin and Dan, he still makes reasonable business decisions, doesn't fall for Dan trying to trick him with terrible trade offers, does much better than Rad Tad (who does the worst despite being set on the hardest difficulty), and comes in second place overall. Although he does pester Arin with terrible trade offers, repeating the same rejected trade offer multiple times.
The second computer-controlled opponent in Monopoly. He's set to hard, and was meant to be a challenging opponent, but he ended up doing worse than anyone else.
- Artificial Brilliance: Subverted. While he's not notably stupid, he also doesn't come off as especially smart, and his difficulty setting doesn't help him win.
- Jerkass: Very stubborn about trades he doesn't initiate.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: His higher difficulty only seems to give him better luck with rolls.
- But Now I Must Go: She leaves her new friend to return to her home planet.
- The Ace: He's the one doing everything this time around.
- Body Horror: His gross echidna penis.
- Butt-Monkey: A big source of jokes were at the expense of his intelligence and perceived uselessness. Subverted once the Grumps learned of his glitch and exploited it. Now he's The Ace.
- Compensating for Something: According to Arin and Danny, he made himself muscular to make up for his bizarre penis.
- Darkhorse Victory: There was a large door that Sonic asked Tails and Amy to handle, while Knuckles was supposed to stay out. Knuckles instead flies over the door and bypasses the puzzle entirely, much to the shock of Sonic and co.
- Gonk: Possibly to the Grumps, who like to point out how weird his body is, or how sausage-y his fingers are.
- Good Bad Bugs: His ability to jump really high and stay up, it's essentially like flying. Arin absolutely loves using him because of this.
- Story-Breaker Power: His jump glitch, which actually allows them to skip through planned events and puzzles.
- Artistic License – Biology: There's no way something with her anatomy would be able to live.
- Body Horror: See the above. Danny often makes comments about how disgusting her proportions and figure are. He grows more and more horrified as the series goes on. He comments that her tiny shins should snap in half at the rest of her.Arin: I simultaneously skip, but also never miss leg day.
- Fan Disservice: She wears a leopard print thong bikini...and, well, everything else about her.
- Gonk: All of her body proportions are skewed either to their max or minimum, creating a very disturbing looking woman. Danny and Arin both repeatedly comment about how disturbing and/or weird she looks.Danny: You look like a chipmunk storing tons of food in your cheeks for the winter.
- Gender-Blender Name: Her name is Stanley, which is obviously a name reserved exclusively for men.
- Giant Woman: Her height slider is all the way to the max, so she's around 8 feet tall, judging by how much taller she is than Chris Jericho.
- Groin Attack: Did this to Chris Jericho in episode 2.
- Impossible Hourglass Figure: Literally every single part of her body is built upon extreme contrast of thickness and thinness as Arin basically alternated between absolute values for all of the size settings, creating an abomination of nature that should not be able to exist.
- Mystical White Hair: Arin comments she looks like a jacked-up Paula Deen.
- Shaped Like Itself: Stanley's stage name is Stanley.
- Unskilled, but Strong: Her stats are geared towards simply overpowering her enemies, rather than doing complex maneuvers or strategies.
- Virtual Paper Doll: And Arin chooses her to give her a very hideous and revealing outfit.
- Body Horror: All the character creation sliders are turned down to their lowest setting, creating a stick-thin freak of nature.
- Creepy Long Fingers: Her hands and feet are huge, leading to this effect.
- Noodle People: She is freakishly skinny.
- Nothing but Skin and Bones: Why a woman who is clearly starving is participating in a wrestling match is anyone's guess.
- Waif-Fu: Despite appearing to weigh around fifty pounds, she can take on Stone Cold Steve Austin in a tag-team match.
- Flat Character: They have no personalities beyond being named Steve.
- The Generic Guy: They're named Steve, and that's it.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted. They're both named Steve.
- Surfer Dude: They have the accent, but not the personality. Their only personality is being named Steve.
- Those Two Guys: Who are both named Steve.
- Leet Lingo: He peppers his words with occasional misspellings, Letters 2 Numbers and Xtreme Kool Letterz.
- Tagalong Kid: He is supposedly seventeen.
- Troll: Conceived as a way Barry and/or Kevin can hide their identity when they want to say something snarky through their editing but remain anonymous.
Barbie
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Even though she's a jerk, she still is nice to Sagi."Suck it, raccoon friend!"
- Groin Attack: Goes for one on Antonio by throwing a rock at him...
- The Dog Bites Back: Right after he threw one at her.
- Mike Nelson, Destroyer of Worlds: Wound up causing a whole species of fish to go extinct and going up onto the most wanted list for picking up one fish.
- Pride: She always gloats about her beauty and skill to herself.
- Raised by Wolves: Barbie was raised by peacocks.
Prince Antonio
- Distressed Dude: Implied by the objective of winning 12 island roses, though he shows up in the Crocodile minigame.
- Jerkass: He tried to hit Barbie with a rock a few times.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: That said, he still helps Barbie with the crocodiles.
- The Reveal: Antonio was really gay.
Azul
- Double Entendre: Has a fun time belting out these at Barbie when giving her advice regarding what she has to do. Especially crabs.
- Fantastic Racism: The Grumps concluded that Azul is specist.
- Finish Him!: Says this at one point in Part 1.
Sagi
- Catchphrase: "Now that was quite a ho."
- Really 700 Years Old: Downplayed. Because of how animals age differently to humans, Sagi is now an 16-year-old Raccoon.
- The Napoleon: Averted he is 3'4" but he is full of spunk.
- Only Known By Their Nick Name: his real name is just Didi but everyone calls him Peeweedidi.
- The Pollyanna: He is full of spunk and joy.
- Ascended Meme: It was originally a joke when during filming, Dan got the two mixed up and called Jared "The Completionist" and they took the joke and ran with it, making up the name. The joke spilled over into their other shows when they mentioned either Jirard or Jared. Then they had both of them on the show at once and referred to them as a single person.
- Fusion Dance: How he came to be.
- Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: His voice goes from high to low with every phrase.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot : It's not so much that he turns against Eggman, the fact that he can't register so many different things (arousal, getting knocked into shit, etc.) apparently ends up becoming a huge disadvantage for him.
- Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head: Does not register trash talk well, except for his Precision F-Strike below.
- Death Seeker: Welcomes his exploding death as it comes with his final thoughts being of Amy's panties.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Seems to be this for the Grumps. Most of the boss fights in Sonic Adventure DX that the Grumps play have them talking about something off-topic, and occasionally talking about the boss (especially with the many repeat fights), compare that with Zero, who they voice for almost his whole fight and focus on (Danny even almost says that its a good combat-centric fight before shifting his attention).
- Interspecies Romance: Might have feelings for Amy, but aside from that, his father was a Gameboy and his mother was a tin can.
- Jump Scare: Tries to do this throughout Amy's play through. It doesn't work because The Game Grumps are too distracted to notice.
- Large Ham: With such lines as "You are stupid...STUPID!!!" and "PANTYSHOT OVERLOAD!!!"
- Machine Monotone: Being a robot, he's got this.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Apparently his father told him he was a robot (in a negative light), and Zero bemoans the fact that his father was right.
- What Is This Thing You Call "Love"??: Fails to understand why he likes the panty shots Amy repeatedly shows him, but enjoys it anyway.
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: The main draw of his comedy.
- Awesome Mc Cool Name: Unlike the other Links, Loafus' name is considered more silly and cool than just silly. He is also the first of their Links to have a last name, having bee dubbed Cramwell by Danny.
- Badass Normal: He was just an apprentice blacksmith.
- Chivalrous Pervert: Implied.
- Cool Old Guy: Averted with Sahasrahla who he has some disdain for.
- Dude, Where's My Respect?: He has shades of this.
- Heroic Mime: As with all Links he is this but Danny and Arin still speak for him.
- Legacy Character: Like with all previous Link characters from previous Zelda playthroughs, he was given a rather unique name.
- Always Someone Better: He is this to Luigi but is then inverted when after Luigi gets a hot new girlfriend(Daisy) Mario starts living in his shadow.
- Big Brother Instinct: Subverted; He cares about Luigi but this doesn't stop him form being annoyed at having to save him from the Ghostly Galaxy.
- Big "WHAT?!": Gives several of these in the finale of Super Mario Galaxy
- Break the Cutie: Ross's and Jirard's Mario Maker levels have broken Mario's spirit.
- Catchphrase: Doubles as a Brick Joke, as often they have Mario react to everything (mundane to incredibly disturbing) with an even-toned "awwwww" followed by "I'm-a guess I'm-a go fishing" from Mario's Game Gallery.
- Chivalrous Pervert: After rescuing the princess oh so many times he desires more than the Standard Hero Reward, but he still is a hero.
- Deadpan Snarker: The Grump's Mario occasionally slips into this, most commonly when he starts delivering his trademark "Wah-hoos" and "Yipees" with absolutely no emotion at all.
- Demoted to Extra: In Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario 3D World for Luigi in the former and Peach and Toad in the latter.
- Determinator: He will save the day no matter what....so long as he gets a nice reward.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- Knight in Sour Armor: The grumps usually portray him as this with him being tired and annoyed by Bowser, Peach and Toads but he still saves the day (usually)
- Lovable Sex Maniac: A Running Gag during their Super Mario Galaxy playthrough is that Mario continuously wants to ditch his mission to save Peach in order to hook up with Rosalina.
- Subverted in the finale when he immediately goes back to pinning for Peach after Rosalina shows she's much taller than he thought.
- Oh, No... Not Again!: Every time he dies and comes back to life in Mario Maker to experience the level all over again.
- No Guy Wants an Amazon: He claims he doesn't want to date at the moment when Rosalina shows her much bigger size.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Sometimes when the challenge proves annoying.
- Sir Swearsalot: In Super Mario 64 part 38, Arin spends most of the episode doing a very profane imitation of Mario.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Another alternate interpretation the Grumps have for Mario is that he's been through so much that everything barely even registers with him by this point, pretty much turning him into The Stoic.
- Would Hurt a Child: They point out how secretly disturbing it is that in Mario Galaxy the first couple missions involve Mario killing children (children monsters, but still), and say the only reason the game gets a pass is because of its cheerful, colorful style.
Princess Peach
- Really Gets Around: With Mario, Luigi, Bowser and maybe Toad.
Toad
- Breakout Character: Danny usually plays either Yoshi or Luigi in Mario games. However he switched to Toad in Super Mario 3D World and never changed back.
- Jerk With A Heartof Gold: He has heroic traits but is a dick to people especially Mario.
- No Indoor Voice: He does not have a quiet voice.
- Jack of All Trades: He's had quite a lot of careers in his time.
- Julius Beethoven da Vinci: In addition to being Leonardo da Vinci, he was also Christopher Columbus, Mark Zuckerberg, Washington Redskins quarterback Doug Williams, Hugh Grant, and Ross. He played bass on "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder, and for Herbie Hancock's "Headhunters". He starred in The Notebook, The Lion King and all two-hundred episodes of Titanic. He also invented grapes.
- Master of Disguise: He can take many forms.
- Really 700 Years Old: In his masquerade as Ross, he looks quite young for his age.
- Ax-Crazy: Only interested in whapping people.
- Catchphrase/Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: "Whap!"
- Malevolent Masked Men: Almost entirely unlike Frank West himself.
- Sharp-Dressed Man: He starts out dressed somewhat shabbily, but then he quickly upgrades to a rather dapper suit.
- Shout-Out: Possibly to the Hobgoblin.
- Catchphrase: "Mmmmmmmm, FUNNEEEEEE JOKE!"
- The Friend No One Likes: Whenever Yoda shows up, Dan seems to lose all enthusiasm.
- Pungeon Master: His entire schtick is making corny Star Wars-related jokes.
- All Women Are Lustful: A recurring theme. She even describes the premise of one of her new shows as simply, "I like having sex."
- Cliché Storm: Most of her shows are by-the-numbers slightly-raunchy sitcoms about a small town girl trying to make it in the big city.
- Fangirl: Writes to Johnny Depp on a daily basis.
- Larynx Dissonance: At best she sounds like Roz but deeper. Half the time Arin voices her by just groaning and retching in pain.
- Politically Incorrect Hero: One of her otherwise normal sitcoms is titled "All Jews Must Die."
- Small Town Boredom: An element in a lot of her sitcoms. In one of them she moves to an even smaller town, befriending a sloth in Madagascar.
Haley Easternr
The game's protagonist.- Ambiguously Gay: The Grumps seem to think that she and Oceana have something going on.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: She's named after Hayley Westenra.
- Replacement Goldfish: After Oceana gets lost in Deep Hole, Jean-Eric decides that Haley will be his new granddaughter, giving her Oceana's clothes and even calling her "Oceana."
Jean-Eric
The old, gruff and slightly mad head of the company.- Dirty Old Man: When the girls go diving, he reenacts a certain sex act from a memetic hentai. He's also made a few questionable comments about his own granddaughter, and once masturbated to the Deep Hole underwater cave.
- Groin Attack: He is the "one ball" of 9-Ball Island due to an...accident he had. Ouch.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase: Anything involving his son Matthias. Who is dead. Thanks for bringing that up.
- My Parents Are Dead: Inverted, he often reminds people that his son is dead.note
- Politically Incorrect Hero: Once he hears Professor Sakurai is Japanese, he starts spewing derogatory statements, including telling her to go back to...China.
- What the Hell Is That Accent?: His accent is supposed to be French, but morphs into something only vaguely European.
Oceana
Jean-Eric's granddaughter and L&L's only diver besides Haley.- Ambiguously Bi: Apparently has a crush on Haley, but also wishes that there were some boys on the island.
- The Ditz: She "don't think good".
- Misplaced Accent: She's presumably French like her grandfather, but speaks in a Southern accent, likely to make her sound like a Half-Witted Hillbilly.
- Too Dumb to Live: Her immediate reaction to seeing a distraught humpback whale is "LET'S GO IN ITS MOUTH!"
- Running Gag: Like with all previous Links, this Link was given a...unique name.
- Ax-Crazy: Demands that Slurmp grab a baseball bat and beat Ganondorf to death right in her father's court.
- Subverted in Breath of The Wild when Zelda's diary reveals that she does not approve of Seal Team Six's deadly missions to murder innocent people.
- The Bully: Tetra's Deadpan Snarker attitude is ramped up by Danny and Arin, thus turning her into a colossal asshole who mocks Buttlet for being sad about having a dead grandmother and a possibly dead sister.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Is pretty much insane and schizophrenic with how she often talks about a mysterious dream she has about a crab (FUCK YOUR FATHER FUCK YOUR FATHER FUCK YOUR FATHER). The reason why she's against Ganondorf? Because of the way he slurps his soup.
- Covert Pervert: Zelda outright tells Slurmp that if he had the Spiritual Stone of the Forest that she'll give him a blowjob right there. She also offers premarital sex to Slurmp (when they're older of course).
- Deadpan Snarker: A trait kept in the playthrough of Wind Waker when she was Tetra.
- Disproportionate Retribution: She fights against Ganondorf because he is ginger and he eats soup like an asshole.Zelda: That's Ganondorf. Though he swears his allegiance to my father, I'm sure he's not sincere. I mean look at his fucking outfit! He looks evil for sure! Have you seen his hair? My dad always said "Never trust a ginger!"
- Gasshole: Zelda lets out a big one while unconscious in Hyrule.
- Horrible Judge of Character: She trusts Slurmp to keep the secret of the Sacred Realm despite the fact that he declines to do so twice. Though right after she tells him, she threatens to have someone "wring [his] fucking neck" if he ever told anyone else.
- The Ophelia: As said above, she's absolutely insane, but she's the Implied Love Interest of Link/Slurmp/Buttlet.
- Ship Tease: Expectedly, with Link/Slurmp/Buttlet.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: The Grumps make Tetra become more callous and demeaning towards Buttlet.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: The weird shit she does in the examples above? The majority done while she was a child.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: He can go from taunting Chuck over his lack of Zombrex to offering him sex in the same sentence.
- Nonindicative Name: His name may be "Zombie," but he's alive and well. To a degree.
- The Name Is Zombie, Ted Zombie
- Bond One-Liner: Ivan makes several of these over the course of the series, some land better than others. Ivan delivers this line after killing an enemy and throwing him over a rail:"Hope you can swim while dead."
- Cloud Cuckoolander: No matter what the situation, he tends to have some rather...interesting things to say."I named this barricade 'Barracuda' after my favorite fish, and my favorite song by my favorite band Heart, which is my favorite organ to pull out of the chest of my enemies. Lots of favorites today. Must be good day."
- The Comically Serious: Everything he says is delivered in a deep, deadpan monotone, no matter how nonsensical it is."You think tarp will save you. Please poke head out. Because yes, tarp will save you."
"Spider-Sense may be tingling."
*Girl reaches up to touch Ivan in a gas mask, as she lays dying. Ivan stares blankly* "No, germs." - Funny Foreigner: Most of the comedy stems from his stereotypical Russian accent.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Portrayed in the game's intro as rocking out on drums while having flashbacks of his awful life? Bummer Drummer might be canon after all...
- Running Gag: He perpetually lacks the understanding that planes and helicopters are not just different kinds of birds.*Helicopter arrives* "Look, giant bird! Should I shoot, then we eat?"
- Self-Made Orphan:"This is fun. Haven't had so much fun since I killed parents. Man, what a day."

- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: We call him Thomas for short.
- Offing the Offspring: What his dad's constantly trying to do. Black Comedy ensues.
- Overly Long Name: His full name is "Thomas the 18th Century Boy Who Doesn't Realize He's About To Be Killed By His Dad"
- Wide-Eyed Idealist: No matter how illogical, Thomas seems perfectly fine with going along with his father's wishes."Father we sure are up high, and there are no parachutes to speak of. Well there's one parachute, and yet there's two of us. Will we be splitting the parachute in twain, father? And that is quite an adult sized parachute, do you think it would fit my tiny arms?"
- Badass Bookworm: A lawyer who's also the star of an action game.
- Dark and Troubled Past: She picked up the Dankenstein nickname on the streets, which she doesn't like to talk about.
- Embarrassing Last Name: To the point that they doubt they'll be able to remember it after coming up with it. Also note that "The" is actually part of the name and not an article, and the first N in McFlurntin is silent.
- Innocent Fanservice Girl: They get around the game's mandatory clothing on the female characters by making her jumpsuit the same color as her fur, letting her look just as naked as the guys.
- Otherkin: A cat who identifies as a monkey.
- Overly Long Name: As a result of Arin and Danny forgetting it every episode, her name got longer every time.
- Rummage Sale Reject: Arin's insistence on outfitting Plurmp with the goofiest new accessories after each level gives the impression that she constantly cycles through any weird clothes she can find trying to create some kind of iconic look.
- Sitcom Archnemesis: Amy suspects she's after Sonic.
"If we start the event and each put on a good performance - POWERING DOWN - then it will inspire others to OVERHEATING…" (Beat) "CORE TEMPERATURE NOMINAL… do the same."
President of the Doki Doki Literature Club!. Clearly not a robot trying to suck her clubmates' brains out.
- Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable:Monika: Do you enjoy my new laugh pro-GRAM? Do you think it is convincing to fool the hu-MANS?
- The Ace: The level of control and power she has over not just the club but the entire world is both terrifying and gut-busting.
- Adaptational Badass: Lasers, a jet pack, the power of brain sucking… you name it, she's got it.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: No, you've got it all wrong, she's 100% normal and doesn't thirst over the brains of her fellow clubmates.
- Artificial Human: Keeps trying to pass herself off as a real human to the other clubmates, but FriendArin isn't fooled.Monika: I see. I hear. I taste. I am human. After all.
- Big Bad: Possibly the most hilarious one in all of Game Grumps history.
- Blatant Lies: Insists that she's a normal hu-MAN and that the festival involves volunteering for cherry blossoms, NOT sacrificing oneself to her strange power of brain sucking.
- Breakout Character: She certainly has her fair share of compilations starring her.
- The Bus Came Back: After the release of the DDLC Plus expansion, her reign of absolutely hilarious terror is reignited.
- Cloud Cuckoolander:Monika: (to Natsuki) Eat my hair. EAT.

- Hilarious in Hindsight: Arin says he didn't know Monika was more than she seemed when he gave her the robot voice. Also, it was Dan that suggested doing the robot voice on the end slate of episode 1.
- Human Sacrifice: Err, "volunteer." The process is conducted during the Festival of Brain Sucking - wait, she meant "Cherry Blossoms" - for powering herself up.
- Jet Pack: She has one built into her, allowing her to traverse the classroom faster than walking like a human.
- Killer Robot: She comes equipped with an impressive arsenal of weapons that could rival even Iron Man, but her favorite ability is sucking out brain juices while her victims sleep.
- Laughably Evil: For the Big Bad of the story, she is just a complete and utter riot.Natsuki: Is this about the festival?
Monika: Well, sort of - the Festival of Brain Sucking - I MEAN CHERRY BLOSSOMS. - Robot Girl:FriendArin: My mind wanders back and forth between the four girls... Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri and Robot!
- Signature Laugh: Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.

- Adaptational Badass: Sayori is a complete and utter pyromaniac who claims to have made a vest out of dragon skin.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Sayori is prone to spacing out and Yuri is obsessed with Clifford the Big Red Dog.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Sayori, if her claim about making a vest out of dragon skin is to be believed.
- Driven to Suicide: As usual with the game, Sayori and Yuri both succumb to this.
- Dwindling Party: Thanks to Monika, Sayori hangs herself, Yuri stabs herself repeatedly and Natsuki is RetGoned out of existence.
- Gasshole: Yuri gets associated with fart jokes a few times, such as the scene where she brings in her aromatherapy.Yuri: I'm not farting, I'm diffusing essential oils!
- Larynx Dissonance: All of them, due to being voiced by Danny and Arin, but Yuri's the most obvious, due to having an extremely deep voice compared to Sayori and Natsuki's high-pitched squeaky voices.
- Mad Libs Catch Phrase: Natsuki often punctuates her dialogue by saying "[Noun] can [verb]," based off her "Eagles Can Fly" poem. FriendArin borrows this once when he says "People can try" with the same intonation.
- Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls: Yuri writes Clifford X Sonic fanfiction.
- Only Sane Woman: Though she has her fair share of quirks, Natsuki remains the most normal member of the group.
- Tsundere: Natsuki, as in canon, is a brash girl with a sweet side.
- Valley Girl: Sayori has this kind of accent, though she doesn't have the stereotypical speech pattern.
- Younger Than They Look: While Natsuki is Older Than They Look in canon, here she claims to be eleven years old.
- A Man Is Always Eager: His lust for the girls of the club is amped up in this characterization.

- The Ditz: He's pretty emotionally dense, and at one point when picking up Natsuki's manga, he seems to not even know what a book is.
- Gag Penis: Claims to have a 27-inch penis.
- Innocently Insensitive: On top of just being super rude for no reason, he'll sometimes completely misunderstand the situation and make things worse.FriendArin: Don't you share your manga with your friends?
Natsuki: ...Could you not rub it in?
FriendArin: Ohhhh. You don't have any manga. That's a shame. Why don't you borrow some from all the friends you have?
[Natsuki begins crying] - Surfer Dude: This is the voice Arin gives him, though his personality is more that of a fratbro.
- Thinking Out Loud: Arin and Danny assume his opening narration is just him loudly describing his thoughts, confusing passersby on the sidewalk. He even speaks about how annoying Sayori is while she's standing right in front of him.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Raw potatoes. He shoves them into his mouth constantly, as well as the mouths of others, and they frequently spill out of his bag.
- With Friends Like These...: Sayori tries to be friends with FriendArin, but his Establishing Character Moment is loudly complaining about her in public.

You can tell because Captain Motorcycle talks about himself in the third person." - Totally Radical: Tries to attract young children with motorcycles and denim on denim. "Cuz he knows that's what the ladies love!""I think this was more cool in, like, the 80s and 90s, and now it's just like, I dunno, there's a stigma..."
—One of the girls he's flirting with
Tropes that apply to Diddle Kid:
- Character Title: Diddle Kid’s debut episode is his name.
- Hero with Bad Publicity: Implied to be the case when Cop!Dan shields his girlfriend from him, and when he and Cop!Arin are disappointed that after using the Bat Signal, Diddle Kid shows up instead.
Tropes that apply to The Diddler:
- Annoying Laugh: His EstablishingCharacterMoment is him creepily laughing at Cop!Dan for mistaking him for The Riddler.
- Harmless Villain: When The Diddler is introduced creepily laughing at Cop!Dan for mistaking him with The Riddler, he is treated as the butt of a joke rather than as a legitimate threat. That is until the shot where The Diddler says he is going to “touch that dick”, showing the reality of the situation.
- Comedic Sociopath: Sugar Bear puts Granny through all sorts of torment just to get her Sugar Crisps.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Breaks into Granny's house, threatens her with a gun, and attacks her with a panzer tank; all for the sake of her Sugar Crisps.
- Drowning My Sorrows: Via Sugar Crisps.
- Jerkass: Not only is he a self-important jerk, but he's willing to screw over anyone that gets in between him and his Sugar Crisps.
- Lack of Empathy: Sugar Bear never feels the slightest bit of sympathy towards Granny.
- Political Overcorrectness: He constantly goes on about his political views when he talks with Granny, such as his views on gun reform.
- Small Name, Big Ego: The reason why he acts so self-important? He got verified on Twitter.
- Soft-Spoken Sadist: While he may sound cool and relaxed, Sugar Bear's willing to have hundreds die if it means getting those Sugar Crisps.
- Stepford Smiler: Despite his relaxed demeanor, Sugar Bear is absolutely depressed by the current political climate.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Sugar Crisps, of course!
- Always a Bigger Fish: It was actually created by Barney. A "Grid-lord" is also prayed to by Homer when he decides to go into the Grid to rescue Bart.
- Eldritch Abomination: It's everywhere, it's incomprehensible, it can't be removed and interacting with it can have a variety of unpleasant effects, such as being "pulled under" (this was the fate of Maude Flanders and Bart).
- Evil Overlord: Homer calls it one and states that it has come to "check on human race".
- Master Computer: Possibly, if the theory that Springfield is a computer simulation is correct.

- Friendly Ghost: He's a nice guy who just wants to tell Danny about how good his taste in music is.
- Pokémon Speak: Can only say the word "Catchy".
- Accidental Misnaming: He refers to Arin as "Arnold", "Armin" and "Arliss". Danny gets referred to as "Darren", once.
- They're his next favorite YouTubers next to Ian and Anthony of Smush from Rooster Beak.
- He admits to liking the members of Unus Anus, referring to them as Markiplication and Crank Loves Games.
- Ambiguously Bi: He loves his wife Michelle, but admits to thinking the Grumps' editor Kevin is adorable.Arin!Obama: The ladies love him, and I do not blame them. If I were a lady, I'd love him. Hell, I'm a boy and I love him!

- Covert Pervert: To everybody's surprise, he has a lot of "awesome president sex."
- Fanboy: He watches Game Grumps consistently, and even avoids spending time with his family at the beach so he can catch up on Game Grumps episodes. Despite this, he still gets Arin's name wrong.
- Raging Stiffie: Being the president gives him an erection.
- Sophisticated as Hell: He speaks with Obama's calm and formal tone of voice while talking about his sex life or calling the Grumps "fucking idiots."Arin!Obama: I'm gonna pre, dude! I'm gonna fuckin' pre!
- Straw Fan: Despite finding the Grumps' jokes funny, he also has a troll account where he calls them idiots and spouts off the most common criticisms of the Grumps' gameplay.Dan!Obama: "You only get three Ultra Shrooms in the entire game. The fuck is wrong with him? How does he not know this thing about this game he's never played?"
- Accidental Misnaming: Part of a running gag. He mispronounces Arin's name as "Aron" and calls Dan "Dwayne".
- Ambiguously Human: Trivia Boy speaks in a stilted Machine Monotone and his face is composed of googly eyes and a Post-it note stuck to his head. He also shuts down after Dan flicks one of his eyes off his face.
- Ambiguously Gay: The punishment for getting a question wrong is a kiss from Trivia Boy and the prize for getting a question right is a blow job from Trivia Boy. Kissing Dan apparently gave him a "trivia erection".
- Butt-Monkey: Arin and Dan frequently insult Trivia Boy for correcting them when they get an answer wrong, Arin mentions keeping him in a "slightly smoldering furnace" and Dan takes advantage of the fact Trivia Boy can't see to suddenly slap him.
- Expressive Mask: Trivia Boy initially can only smile at the camera, due to only having one Post-it note "mouth", so Arin and Dan draw more mouths on Post-it notes and swap them around whenever they feel his mood should change. By the end of the episode, Trivia boy can express sadness, indifference, surprise and post-coital-bliss.
- Unishment: The penalty Trivia Boy dishes out for missing a question is a kiss on the cheek. The prize for getting a question right is a simulated blowjob.
