It seems more split, to be honest.

Goodness it’s been some years since I’ve seen a like/dislike ratio.

[up] The notion that it could be split like this, though, indicates to me that general audiences are starting to get tired of Disney's trend of remaking their classic animated features as live-action movies, or at least that said audiences didn't much care for their remake of The Lion King specifically.

Yeah, I heard that despite the fact that the first live action Lion King movie made over $1 Billion at the box office, many people didn't really like the movie.

It seems more split, to be honest.

Any amount dislikes over 10% or so is a bad sign. Very few people drop a dislike for something they find mediocre

Could it be bots or trolls? I think it's a bit surprising indeed that so many people would go out of their way and watch this video and click on the dislike button.

(I don't think this film will be good, but I don't plan to watch videos about it or click on buttons).

I thought YT has no dislike, that the mod doesn't really track new dislikes?

Not bad for film no one had any fate in.

I mean its a good profit. I guess the marketing campaign really ate up the budget on top of the Oscar campaign

The article breaks it down pretty clearly. Oppenheimer's ads came in at 170 million, plus the 100 for the actual production.

The rest is miscellaneous overhead and residuals/participations. Which is, past a certain point, more money is paid to Nolan, other production staff members, as well as the cast.

Deadline also released their "Small Movies, Big Profits" section. The movies that made it to the list are:

One Of These Is Not Like The Others.

It's the Insidous sequel, which is a PG 13 rated movie

As for the top 4, three of them have to be Barbie, Mario, and Spiderverse. The fourth one could either be John Wick 4 or Sound of Freedom.

I'm more interested in the biggest bombs section. I wonder if Deadline will list 10 movies instead of 5, because of the number of high profile bombs this year.

[up] Along with exploring the now mostly neglected theatrical romantic comedy. (and aside from the nudity it was a fairly straightforward one, as opposed to No Hard Feelings, which I preferred)

Even if Mufasa is still exploring one of Disney's most beloved movies, Alice Through the Looking Glass already showed diminishing returns for follow-ups to those remakes. And given I'm one of those who found the 2019 remake a disservice, am certainly supporting Sonic against it!

Top 4, the year's box office tally makes one believe it's Barbie, Mario, Spiderverse and John Wick.
