So who do you want next film?

Gigan? Space Godzilla? Biollante? Destroyah?

Bagan from the 1993 Super Godzilla videogame.

It's a cool kaiju design, and it's never been used in a movie yet.

[up][up] I just rewatched vs. Destroyah a few days ago so I'm pretty biased towards him.

He's so cool, and it'd be nice to see a monster that Godzilla genuinely, unambiguously needs help to defeat. So far, in the Monsterverse, we've seen that Godzilla COULD have defeated Ghidorah in the ocean if the humans hadn't interfered, and with Mechagodzilla, the director has apparently come out and said that Godzilla only struggled as much as he did because he was tired from fighting Kong.

So Destroyah could be the first monster that Godzilla straight up can't defeat, even at the peak of his powers. Because it's made out of his kryptonite.

In the original, Destroyah's weakness is low temperatures, so I could even imagine Kong going to get Shimo's help or getting some kind of upgrade from her.

Nah, even Destroyah had the advantage of Godzilla suffering from an internal meltdown by the time of the movie.

Ghidorah is by and large the one kaiju Godzilla consistently can't defeat on his own.

It's why he is his archenemy. He's the only Kaiju who sever consistently stood a chance against him with out help.

Ghidorah nearly always forces Godzilla to either team up with other Kaiju or rely on help from humans.

In Godzilla Final Wars for example, Kaizer Ghidorah is not only the only Kaiju in the movie that Godzilla doesn't curbstomp, it initially toys with Godzilla. Godzilla only wins thanks to a power boost from a human psychic.

Probably not very likely, but it'd be cool to see MV Battra.

I missed the part where that's my problem.

I am gradually learning just how much Godzilla lore there is. The realization is kind of intimidating, like a kid who suddenly understands that other countries exist, with people who speak different languages and have different cultures.

And don't even get us started on the lore for Godzilla: Singular Point, because the novelization adds really big and scary details

I'm mostly still how amazed that Godzilla lore has Godzilla being a metaphor for the atomic age, to being a good guy for children to cheer on sometimes.

I want a Monsterverse Jet Jaguar. I don't care how stupid it is on every level.

Hell, lean into it. Make it into a Transforming Mecha, really earn the "Jet" part of its name.

Actually, a M.O.G.U.E.R.A. would make a lot of sense. The original (well, Heisei) was made out of some of Mechagodzilla's parts and given the focus on the hollow Earth, a drilling mecha makes a lot of sense in the continuity.

The Legendary-verse has plenty of supervehicles, so a drill-mole-tank robot is borderline logical here.

I also think Gigan makes a lot of sense. We've almost literally mined everything we can from terrestrial enemies. Space cyborg chicken seems as good as any for an extraterrestrial threat.

Biollante could also really work. Queen of Flora vs. King of Monsters could work thematically.

Not only Monarch has been renewed for a second season, but there are spin-off shows in the works too.

I'd say there should be a Work Com ala The Office, starring the insurance company from Gx K. Them dealing the mundanity of resolving kaiju related problems.

[up][up]That reminds me of a current and surprisingly popular art trend on Twitter with Jia becoming Biollante to make room for some angst.

Nah, even Destroyah had the advantage of Godzilla suffering from an internal meltdown by the time of the movie.

While that was indeed killing him, most people see "Burning Godzilla" as a Deadly Upgrade that made the Big G stronger.

Destroyah is the Bane to Ghidorah's Joker, usually. Held "Ultimate Foe" rights in the fandom for a long time. Although the comics didn't run with it much so that reputation weakened.

It was also common in the early Godzilla internet fandom to portray Destroyah as female, thanks to the slightly feminine suffix and Hive Queen - Mother of a Thousand Young styling that Megaguirus would later use full tilt. (Who ironically has a masculine suffix. [lol])

[up][up] OH HELL YEAH! MAKE THE MONSTERVERSE BIGGER!

Re:Destroyah

We did have the Oxygen Destroyer used in Kot M, so his origin is already set up. And after what a dud the bomb was, he would be a nice way to retroactively add weight to its use

Re: Battra.

Again in Kot M, the credits showed a Mothra-esque egg. But New Empire brought Mothra back a different way, so they could turn around and say it was Battra's egg.

I want a Monsterverse Jet Jaguar. I don't care how stupid it is on every level.

I want to see a Monsterverse take on Jet Jaguar as well. I liked the Godzilla: Singular Point take on Jet Jaguar, and there's a very childish part of my brain that hopes that we'll get to see Kong and Jet Jaguar team up.

I also second those who want to see a Monsterverse take on Biollante. I wonder if such a take will connect her to the Hollow World or something like that.

I'm mostly still how amazed that Godzilla lore has Godzilla being a metaphor for the atomic age, to being a good guy for children to cheer on sometimes.

I suppose that's one of the great things about Godzilla; he's a pretty versatile character. He can be a sort of guardian of the world, but if you ever need him to be an antagonist, his roots as a representation of the horrors of war are still there for writers to use.

Most villains become heroes if you tell enough stories about them. [lol]

Godzilla's probably the prime example, but it's true he's versatile. He'll always be "King of the Monsters", but monsters can be many things.

As for Jet Jaguar... Well... Honestly the Monsterverse is built on crossing Godzilla and King Kong. So why settle for discount Ultraman when they could probably pull a few strings and have the Guardian of Nebula M87 himself show up? Tsuburaya'd probably be willing to play ball.

I liked Monarch well enough, but the 50s storyline was the more interesting part and is already wrapped up, and the best character is dead. I don't know how much enthusiasm I could muster for a second season.

That's my absolute favourite dumb thing about KOTM. How the Oxygen Destroyer is just introduced and then immediately used in the middle of an action scene. I don't think it's given any set up in the movie at all before then.

[up]x5 An idea I had for Jet Jaguar is him starting out as a human made robot who gets exposed to mysterious alien technology which grants him both sapience and his size changing ability. I'd also kinda like to see his his size changing used creatively.

I always thought it was neat that the one time Ghidorah was a good guy was when he was up against one of the more evil versions of Godzilla.

Granted, it IS a ONE time deal, and even when he fights evil Godzilla, he's still evil like that anime trilogy.

[up][up][up] Yeah, they try to hype it up like seconds before it's used and all it amounts to is a green nuke.

I like how Ghidorah wasn't harmed because being an alien, it doesn't need/isn't adapted to oxygen. But it didn't even kill Godzilla.

It's one thing is "It can kill Godzilla" and it didn't kill Godzilla.

Well, it got close. It put him out of commission for a long time, and was basically the darkest hour turning point.

I dunno, it could have used more set-up, but it was very effective and it did impact the movie a lot. Serizawa's big sacrifice scene is one of my favorites in the whole Monsterverse.
