X-Men '97 (Disney +): Continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series

And the fact that EMH Spidey is apparently still in high school, while Animated Spidey was in college by that time.

Would EMH and Spectacular being in the same universe have some merit to it?

Isn't EMH already in a shared verse with Wolverine and the X-Men?

Personally I'd be fine with a new Avengers 97 show, just taking care to keep the characters in line with any X-Men TAS or Spider-Man TAS guest slots.

Considering Spider-man had Cap, Iron Man/War Machine, Doctor Strange and the FF at least.

Man I hope we get an EMH revival.

While it didn't last as long as 90s X-Men it's still really beloved.

I have officially crossed the "brainrot" horizon. As of last night, I finished the entire 90's TAS run. It defenitely isnt perfect, but it is still enjoyable and full of social comentary we grew to expect today. I do feel like some episodes feel like there are weird gaps of time inbetween. For instance, Genosha. For most of its run its a honey trap to capture and enslave mutants with a tyrannical corrupt government, up until the final episode wherr it seems Magneto had taken it over off screen??? Huh? I guess it does explain all the Magneto propaganda we saw in 97 episode 5. Also the Vampire Dinosaur line Jubilee gave was a cute reference to Sauron, thats nice. Now that i have TAS fresh on the mind, I want to rewatch the 97 eps with all the context.

On a side note, I have always found it strange that Wolverine and the X-Men and the 2000's Fantastic Four series are the only Marvel shows to have not been under the Disney umbrella; they are Nicktoons shows.

I don't recall Spectacular being mentioned. I do recall hearing that it shared a universe with Wolverine and the X-Men.

Then again, I do remember that it was original supposed to be Josh Keaton doing Peter's voice, but he was dubbed over with Drake Bell. They also brought back the actors for both Jameson and Betty from Spectacular for that episode.

I wonder if Disney feels like they shot themselves in the foot by not making a Spiderman TAS sequel too and not a weird MCU parallel (but if the latter looks half as good as this show…)

Not as beloved as this show though.

EMH is said to get a bit wonky by season 2. Not a horrific free fall like some shows but some middling episodes frequently pop and shut the door on several arcs that went on to a somewhat rushed finale that would have felt climatic in any other circumstance. Thats what YMMV says

Xmen TAS might have the most iconic scenes in its first season but only at the end did a slight quality dip and mainly the animation studio change and the new episodic format. The ep where storm gets engaged sucks though

The first half of season 2 is still aight but after that the arc writing takes a nose dive because the new direction loathed sequential story telling

yesssss it sucks so much I earnestly thought Arkon planted a mind control devicd in her because she was uncharacteristically dumb, falling for someone she just met after doing a ton of taxing planet saving labor. Tbh a lot of season 5 felt phoned in since I got to it last night. Storm suddenly being like "oh right the Morlocks", Jubilee chaperone episode...I could feel the executives pushing for more and more kid friendly stuff. That and more religous. I love Nightcrawler but him being able to Sermon No Jitsu Wolverine and Mystique felt very...strange.

I will say EMH is a definitive version of Secret Invasion (2008)

Yes, it is even better than the comics because the comics should honestly be renamed "damn obvious assault"

It was better than the MCU adaptation too.

Dude, Inhumans is better than that adaptation.

The last episode of 97 had a better Secret Invasion without any Secret Invasion.

Some people clamoring the writers for 97 to transfer to MCU, never mind that itd probably make 97 suffer as a result and making them do both is overtaxing. I’m scared of the idea the Marvel writing room alters people there’s stuff to be more homogenous too

97 really feels like it has no problem being a superhero story, it takes itself truly seriously.

Which wouldn't mix with the giggle and wink humor of the MCU towards the fantastical stuff.

It's also more likely that the X-Men 97 writers will experience even more intrusive Executive Meddling if they make the jump to MCU.

Sort of, but not directly. EMH got the short end of the stick because the Powers that Be wanted a show more similar to the MCU, so it was cancelled in favor of Avengers Assemble. I don’t think Whedon himself was involved in that decision.

I mean isn't it kinda in hot water with the original head writer gone? Cherishing the first two seasons because if this show got a 3rd it's on shaky grounds.
