The Scrappy is an No Real Life Examples trope. It poses particular problems for Reality Show examples as these shows deliberately mix fact and fiction to build a narrative via selective editing, and the audience reaction may be at least partly based on a contestant's social media presence, tabloid headlines or other elements that only apply to the real person's life outside the show.

Accordingly, as per this Crowner decision, The Scrappy can only be used for reality show contestants if the audience reaction to them is directly acknowledged within the show/franchise itself.

Cutting as only one example on the page (Shannel) seems to meet that standard - that one will be moved to the Series, as it's within the work itself. If recreating the page, please ensure that examples confirm where, within the show, the contestants were stated to be unintentionally hated by the audience.

Cutting as many examples on this page refer to real life events outside the show, and only one meets the required standard. The one remaining example (Elise) will be moved over to YMMV subpage (initial series 9 appearance) and Series page (series 17 return, invoked). If recreating the page, please ensure that examples confirm where, within the show, the contestants were stated to be unintentionally hated by the audience.
